Job Stories From Middlesex County, MA
Radon Mitigation, Acton, MA

Moving to a new home takes a lot preparation and time. This is especially true when moving across the country. Jim G. was moving along with his family from Texas all the way to Acton, Massachusetts. After purchasing their new home, Jim was doing his best to ensure everything was prepared and ready for them upon arrival on move-in day. One of the items he needed to check off his list was installing a radon mitigation system, since the home did test high with levels more than 4.0 pci/l.

Jim reached out to Erickson Foundation Supportworks a little more than a month before their expected move-in date. Since he was out of state, he connected our team with his local realtor, who allowed our specialist to inspect the home and design an appropriate mitigation system.

The home had multiple zones in the basement area, and so two extraction points were required to properly mitigate the home.

Our installation team was able to complete installation of the proposed radon mitigation system in a single day, and do so before Jim and his family arrived. By the time the new homeowners moved in, they had peace of mind knowing the air quality was improved and the dangers of radon were eliminated.

Floor Stabilization, Wilmington, MA

This homeowner in Wilmington, Massachusetts has been living in their 1920's home for 18 months. The floors in their home are slanted and unstable. They first noticed this issue when they purchased the home. Every time their children run down the hallway, the homeowners hold their breath in fear. They fear that the floor could collapse at any moment.  To help find a solution they decided to call Erickson Foundation Supportworks.

Erickson Design Specialist John Prince came to inspect the home to see the condition of the supports. He found that the supports of the home weren't in great condition. The supports were missing footings and some weren't supporting anything. John Prince suggested that they install SmartJacks and EZ Posts Helical Piers. The Crew Lead Scott Crandall and his team successfully installed the SmartJack and EZ Posts Helical Piers to permanently fix their floor problems. The supports they added leveled the floor and made it solid as a rock.

Fixing this issue was very important to the homeowners. Finding a permanent fix to this issue allows them to continue adding upgrades to their "fixer-upper".

SmartJacks Install, Tyngsboro, MA

This homeowner in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts had been living in their home for 50 years. About 10 years ago the homeowners tried to fix the sagging floors in their house. The sagging floors are caused by the house settling. The homeowner would really like to fix this issue. They said the floors are bad enough that they started noticing oil in their frying pan is settling more forward than it did a couple of years ago. Along with the pan issue, the homeowners are also considering doing more renovations in the future. The homeowner wanted a permanent fix so they called Erickson Foundation Supportworks

A Design Specialist John Prince came to the home and inspected the home. He suggested that the homeowner used SmartJacks to counteract the effects of settling. The Crew Lead Jon Provost and his team were on call on this project. They successfully installed the SmartJacks into the home and were able to flatten out the sag on the floor and leveled out the pan sitting on the stove. The SmartJacks made a permanent solution to a problem that had been nagging the homeowners for around a decade.

The homeowners were very please with the work that Erickson had done.

Helical Piers and Crack Repair in Stoneham, MA

John N. of Stoneham, Massachusetts was having an issue where one corner of his home was settling and needed to be jacked back up. Because of the house settling in one corner, it had caused additional damage to other areas of the home. The Erickson Team designed a great system to provide John with a permanent fix to his foundation concerns.

The production team, lead by Josh Provost, started by exposing the foundation.  Eight helical piers were attached to stabilize and raise the home.  PolyLevel freeze guard spray was also installed to help fill and seal the gap between the dirt and the foundation. Next, they moved to the interior  basement and fixed a crack that was caused by the foundation settling. After sealing the cracks they addressed the supports holding the main beam up. The team installed three Smart Jacks to support the interior beam of the home.

In the end, the homeowner was happy with the results of all the repairs and thrilled to have a fully stabilized home.

PolyLevel and Crack Seal, Wakefield, MA

Priscilla S. in Wakefield, Massachusetts was experiencing an issue with the concrete stoop on the front of her home, where it was settled 2" to 4" inches in various places, and showing cracks. Design Specialist John Prince designed a system and recommended the homeowners have PolyLevel and installed to lift and level the concrete. PolyLevel would be a much cheaper alternative to replacing the entire stoop, and would be a permanent fix.

The crew, Chris Hanulec and Nick Melo, successfully lifted and leveled the stoop, and sealed the cracks, all in one day. During the couple hours it took to install the PolyLevel, the homeowners were very interested in how the system worked. They came and took a look at the progress Chris and Nick were making every so often and they were impressed with the process every time.

Ultimately, the stoop was lifted several inches and brought to near level.

These cracks have kept her up at night worrying if the house was going to make it through the night. Phyllis had two other companies come out before she called Erickson. The other two companies couldn't help Phyllis with her home's problems.
