Wet Dirt Basement
Water was infiltrating through the fieldstone foundation walls and pooling on the exposed dirt floor, creating persistently damp conditions ideal for mold growth. Since the homeowner planned to convert the basement into a functional living space, achieving consistent, year‑round moisture control was a critical requirement.
Basement Wall Encapsulation
CleanSpace, a durable vapor‑barrier membrane, was installed along the fieldstone walls to create a continuous moisture‑control layer. Its purpose is to intercept any wall seepage and direct it into the basement's drainage system, ensuring effective water management and long‑term protection of the space.
Interior Perimeter Drainage System
WaterGuard, an interior perimeter drainage system, was installed along the basement's foundation walls. Under typical conditions, portions of the concrete slab are removed to recess the drainage channel. In this case, because the basement lacked a slab, the system was placed directly into a properly prepared bed of crushed stone and carefully leveled to maintain consistent flow. This configuration allows WaterGuard to intercept groundwater and seepage entering through the cove joint or along the wall interface, directing it efficiently to the sump pump system before any moisture can migrate into the usable interior space.
Basement Surface Drainage System
Because WaterGuard cannot be installed behind certain fixed mechanical equipment, TrenchDrain was used in this area to redirect water around the water heater while still providing effective surface drainage capability. The two systems connect seamlessly, ensuring continuous water capture and preventing moisture from entering the finished or functional areas of the basement.
TripleSafe Sump Pump System Featuring Battery Backup
The TripleSafe Sump Pump System incorporates three pumps-a primary, a secondary, and a battery‑powered backup-designed to provide redundant protection under varying conditions. As water enters the sump liner, the pumps activate in sequence based on demand, ensuring reliable and continuous removal of water from the home even during high‑volume infiltration or power outages.
Concrete Floor Pour
A new concrete slab was poured and precisely leveled, reestablishing structural stability in the basement. This process also permanently integrated the drainage system into the foundation floor.
Basement Dehumidifier
The SaniDry XP is a high‑capacity, commercial‑grade dehumidification system designed to maintain controlled humidity levels throughout the large basement. It is engineered to integrate directly with the sump pump system, allowing for automatic, maintenance‑free drainage and continuous moisture management.
