Water Seepage by Bulkhead Steps
Water consistently infiltrated the basement through the bulkhead entrance. Given the presence of concrete steps within the bulkhead, implementing a surface drainage system was the more practical and effective solution compared to a perimeter drainage system, as it allows for the interception and redirection of water before it reaches the basement interior.
TrenchLock Surface Drainage
Due to concerns about radon gas infiltration within the home, the homeowner elected to install TrenchLock. This specialized surface drainage system is designed to effectively manage water intrusion while preventing radon gas from migrating upward through the soil beneath the foundation-a vulnerability commonly associated with traditional basement drainage systems.
Surface Drainage System Integrated to Sump Pump
TrenchLock integrates directly with the sump pump system, channeling groundwater efficiently into the sump basin. It is installed with a precise pitch and securely bonded into the foundation using concrete, ensuring optimal flow dynamics and promoting effective water evacuation from the drainage system.
SuperSump Sump Pump
The SuperSump Sump Pump System is a high-performance solution designed to manage basement water intrusion efficiently. It features a powerful cast-iron Zoeller pump capable of removing thousands of gallons of water per hour, ensuring reliable protection during heavy rainfall or flooding events. The system includes a durable sump liner with an airtight lid to prevent moisture, odors, and radon gas from escaping into the basement environment. Additionally, the lid is equipped with a built-in alarm to alert the homeowner in case of pump failure or rising water levels, enhancing peace of mind and early response capabilities. The SuperSump is engineered for long-term durability and integrates seamlessly with other waterproofing components, making it a cornerstone of a comprehensive basement protection strategy.
Frozen Discharge Line Prevention
Water is discharged from the basement through an exterior drainage line, which can rarely be vulnerable to blockage or freezing-particularly during colder months. To mitigate this risk, an IceGuard® discharge line protection system was installed. IceGuard® functions as a failsafe that allows water to escape through its specially engineered openings if the primary discharge line becomes obstructed or frozen. This added layer of protection helps ensure continuous drainage and significantly reduces the likelihood of basement flooding due to discharge line failure.
Bubbler Pot
To promote efficient water dispersion into the surrounding soil, a bubbler pot was installed at the termination point of the discharge line. The discharge line itself is buried underground to maintain the aesthetic integrity of the landscape while ensuring unobstructed water flow away from the foundation.
