A homeowner in Byfield, Massachusetts, wanted to have a radon system installed into their home. They have lived in their home for 8 years and knew about radon but weren't ready to spend the money to install a system. The homeowners had tested their home for radon last year and the results came back around 5.5 pCi/L. When the homeowners were ready they called EFS, and our design specialist recommended and then designed a Radon Mitigation System for the home.
The radon team installed the system in the basement. The team first started by chipping a section of concrete out of the basement to create an extraction point. The team installed PVC piping into the extraction point to direct radon-filled air toward the fan. The fan was installed on the outside of the home and attached to the siding. Once the fan was attached to the side of the home the team used PVC pipe to vent the radon system above the roofline so radon can't re-enter the home.
The homeowners were happy they finally had a radon system installed in their house. The new system reduced the radon in the home to a comfortable level so the homeowners don't have to worry about worry any more.
