Inefficient Crawl Space
In the absence of insulation, proper encapsulation, or structural supports, the crawl space remained susceptible to excess moisture intrusion, air leakage, and floor system deflection, contributing to sagging floors and drafts throughout the home.
Crawl Space Insulation and Drainage Matting
SilverGlo® rigid foam insulation was installed along the crawl space foundation walls to create a conditioned, energy-efficient environment and significantly reduce cold floor surfaces above. Manufactured from inorganic materials, SilverGlo resists moisture absorption and does not support mold growth, unlike conventional insulation products. Additionally, drainage matting was installed across the crawl space floor to separate the home from exposed earth. This matting promotes controlled water movement, preventing pooling and facilitating proper drainage back into the soil, further protecting the crawl space from moisture-related issues.
Rim Joist Insulation
SilverGlo® rigid foam insulation was also installed along the rim joist area, the critical transition point where the home's wood framing interfaces with the foundation. This junction is a common source of thermal loss and air infiltration. By insulating the rim joists with SilverGlo, a continuous thermal barrier was established, reducing heat transfer and air leakage while restoring overall energy efficiency and indoor comfort.
Crawl Space Encapsulation
CleanSpace® vapor liner was installed along the crawl space walls and floor to fully isolate the space from ground moisture and vapor intrusion. This heavy‑duty, reinforced liner creates a continuous moisture barrier, significantly reducing humidity levels within the crawl space. By controlling moisture at the source, the system helps prevent wood rot, mold growth, and microbial conditions while eliminating musty odors from migrating into the living space above.
Floor Stabilization
A supplemental support beam was installed within the crawl space, along with SmartJack® adjustable steel support posts, to address and correct floor settlement issues. The galvanized SmartJacks were precisely positioned beneath the supplemental beam and adjusted to transfer load effectively back to stable bearing points. This system lifts and permanently supports the affected floor joists, restoring structural integrity, improving load distribution, and returning the floors to a stable, level condition.
Crawl Space Door
A custom-fit crawl space access door was installed to create a tight, sealed barrier between the exterior environment and the crawl space. This properly fitted entry prevents outside moisture, air infiltration, and environmental exposure from entering the crawl space, helping maintain a controlled, dry environment and supporting the overall effectiveness of the moisture management system.
