Failing Crawl Space Moisture Barrier
The existing crawl space moisture barrier was found to be inadequate due to its thin, low-durability material, which exhibited multiple tears and failed to effectively prevent moisture intrusion. As a result, a more robust encapsulation solution was necessary to protect the crawl space environment and reduce the risk of mold growth, elevated humidity levels, and wood rot.
Crawl Space Drainage Matting
Drainage matting was installed across the crawl space floor to create a capillary break between the ground surface and the encapsulation system. This high-flow drainage layer allows groundwater and incidental moisture to move freely beneath the liner, preventing water accumulation while directing moisture toward the soil and designated drainage pathways.
Crawl Space Encapsulation
CleanSpace® vapor barrier was installed over the drainage matting and mechanically secured to the crawl space walls, creating a continuous encapsulation system designed to isolate the crawl space from ground moisture and water vapor intrusion. This heavy-duty, reinforced liner significantly reduces humidity levels while helping protect structural components from mold growth, wood rot, and other moisture-related deterioration.
