Untreated Crawl Space
The crawl space was in an untreated condition and exhibited elevated moisture levels and poor thermal separation, creating an environment conducive to mold growth, wood deterioration, and rodent activity. Evidence of conditions favorable to pest habitation prompted concerns regarding an existing rat infestation. The homeowner elected to address the pest issue through professional extermination services and then implement a comprehensive crawl space encapsulation and moisture-control solution to eliminate the underlying environmental conditions that contribute to pest activity, moisture intrusion, and reduced energy efficiency.
SilverGlo Insulation
SilverGlo® is a high-performance rigid foam insulation panel engineered specifically for crawl space environments. Featuring a graphite-enhanced insulation core and a durable reflective facing, it helps reduce heat transfer, improve energy efficiency, and maintain more consistent temperatures throughout the home.
Drainage Matting and Rim Joist Insulation
Drainage matting was installed across the crawl space floor to create a durable moisture management layer that promotes effective groundwater drainage beneath the encapsulation system. By providing a designated pathway for water movement, the matting helps reduce hydrostatic pressure, protect the vapor barrier from damage, and enhance the overall performance of the crawl space moisture-control system. The rim joists were insulated with SilverGlo® rigid foam insulation to reduce thermal bridging and air infiltration at one of the home's most significant points of energy loss.
CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation
CleanSpace® vapor barrier was installed throughout the crawl space to create a continuous encapsulation system that isolates the space from ground moisture, humidity, and outside air infiltration. This durable liner helps control moisture levels, improve indoor air quality, and protect the home's structural components from the adverse effects of a damp crawl space environment.
