Failing Wooden Crawl Space Supports
The wooden support structures within the crawl space were exhibiting signs of structural failure, as evidenced by a visible gap between the main support beam and the floor joists. This loss of contact compromised load distribution and resulted in noticeable floor sagging above the affected area.
SmartJacks with Supplemental Beam
The deteriorating crawl space supports were removed and replaced with a SmartJack® system and a supplemental steel beam to restore structural stability. This galvanized steel support system offers superior load-bearing capacity and is fully adjustable, allowing for future recalibration in the event of settlement or shifting. Additionally, drainage matting was installed across the crawl space floor to facilitate proper water flow and prevent pooling, helping to maintain a dry and stable environment beneath the home.
SilverGlo
SilverGlo® rigid foam insulation was installed along the interior foundation walls to enhance thermal efficiency and moisture resistance within the crawl space. With an R-value of R-11, SilverGlo provides consistent insulation performance while its closed-cell structure resists water absorption-unlike traditional fiberglass insulation, which can sag, retain moisture, and lose effectiveness over time. This durable solution ensures long-term energy savings and peace of mind for homeowners by maintaining insulation integrity in challenging below-grade environments.
CleanSpace
The CleanSpace® encapsulation system was installed over the drainage matting and carefully fitted around SmartJack® supports and other structural elements within the crawl space. This durable, multi-layer vapor barrier is designed to isolate the crawl space from ground moisture, significantly reducing humidity levels and preventing conditions that contribute to mold growth, wood rot, and poor air quality. By creating a sealed and controlled environment, CleanSpace helps ensure a healthier foundation and supports long-term structural integrity.
