Wet Crawl Space
The homeowner expressed concerns about utility safety, structural integrity, musty odors, and cold floors-all symptoms of a damp crawl space. Excess moisture had compromised the strength of crawl space beams and joists, creating conditions conducive to mold growth and poor air quality. Additionally, the lack of proper insulation allowed cold air to infiltrate the home, contributing to uncomfortable floor temperatures and increased energy costs.
Crawl Space Supports
SmartJack® steel support posts were installed to lift and stabilize the floor system above the crawl space. Constructed from galvanized steel for superior strength and corrosion resistance, these adjustable supports were precisely sized and calibrated to deliver optimal load-bearing capacity. By transferring weight to stable soil strata, SmartJacks® reinforce weakened beams and joists, restoring structural integrity and preventing future settlement.
Crawl Space Drainage Matting
Drainage matting was installed across the crawl space floor to create a durable separation between the exposed earth and the interior environment. This specialized matting facilitates water movement beneath its surface, preventing pooling and directing moisture toward the crawl space waterproofing system for efficient removal. By promoting proper drainage and reducing ground contact, the matting helps maintain a cleaner and drier crawl space.
Crawl Space Insulation and Encapsulation
SilverGlo® insulation panels were installed along the crawl space walls to provide superior thermal protection. Unlike traditional fiberglass, SilverGlo® is engineered with a closed-cell structure that resists water absorption and mold growth, ensuring long-term durability without sagging or deterioration. This advanced insulation improves energy efficiency and eliminates cold floors by creating a continuous thermal barrier. Additionally, CleanSpace®-a heavy-duty, reinforced vapor barrier-was custom-fitted around all crawl space features to seal out ground moisture. Together, these solutions create a controlled, dry environment, eliminating concerns such as musty odors, wood rot, and mold development.
Sump Pump System
An UltraSump® sump pump system was installed in the crawl space to provide reliable moisture removal. As water is directed into the sump liner-assisted by the drainage matting-the pump automatically activates to discharge water through a dedicated outlet line. For added protection, the system includes a battery backup pump that ensures continuous operation during power outages or primary pump failure, delivering uninterrupted defense against water intrusion.
Water Removal Failsafe
Once the discharge line exits the home, an IceGuard® anti-freeze device is installed as a critical failsafe. In the event of a frozen or obstructed discharge line-caused by extreme temperatures or unexpected blockages-IceGuard® automatically allows water to escape through its patented overflow design. This prevents backup within the sump system, ensuring continuous water removal and protecting the crawl space from flooding.
Efficient Soil Drainage
At the termination point of the discharge line, a LawnScape® outlet was installed to facilitate efficient dispersion of water into the surrounding soil, preventing erosion and pooling near the foundation. After installation, the discharge line was fully buried to protect it from damage and maintain a clean, unobtrusive appearance in the landscape.
