The home was being held up by wooden posts mounted in the ground by cement. The cement has been sinking into the ground by the weight of the structure.
The supports are still wooden by they are now secured by helical piers that are screwed into the ground and can withstand far more weight than the old concrete anchored posts.
Here is a closer view of the connection between the support and the helical pier.
While the helical piers were installed on the perimeter of the room, Smart Jacks were installed right down the center of the room to give added support to the middle of the bonus room.
This homeowner in Billerica, Massachusetts was experiencing sinking under their "bonus room" and is causing the room to be out of level. Design Specialist Michael Bradley came to the home and proposed installing Smart Jacks and Helical Piers under the bonus room. Crew Lead Scott Crandall and his team came to the home and installed 5 Smart Jacks and 12 Helical Piers under the bonus room.
