Sister Joist
A sister joist was installed alongside a deteriorating joist to enhance reinforcement and structural integrity. This intervention significantly improves the load-bearing capacity of the floors above, effectively mitigating issues such as sagging and bouncy floors.
SmartJack Excavation
The foundation floor area designated for the SmartJack installation was excavated to facilitate the precise placement and secure installation of the SmartJack system.
SmartJack Crushed Stone Base
The crew opted for a crushed stone base to install the SmartJack system due to its superior drainage capabilities and ability to provide a more uniform foundation support. This choice helps mitigate potential cracking and ensures a stable base, particularly beneficial in the specific soil conditions of the area. Additionally, crushed stone footings align with relevant building codes and are suitable for the seismic zone, enhancing the overall effectiveness and longevity of the SmartJack installation.
SmartJack Plate
The SmartJack plate, constructed from galvanized steel, is positioned atop the crushed stone footing. This plate enhances the load-bearing capacity, thereby augmenting the overall reinforcement of the SmartJack system and ensuring the stabilization of the floors above.
SmartJack Post Installed to Base
The SmartJack post is subsequently placed onto the SmartJack base. Prior to securing it to the main beam, the post is meticulously leveled to ensure optimal alignment and stability.
SmartJack Post Installed to Main Beam
The SmartJack post features full adjustability, enabling precise length adjustments for optimal installation to the main beam. This ensures robust support, effective lifting, and accurate leveling of the floors above.
SmartJacks Concreted into Foundation
Upon installation, the SmartJacks are securely embedded into the home's foundation with concrete, enhancing the system's robustness and ensuring its durability as a permanent solution.
