Failing Lally Columns
The existing lally columns in the home were insufficient to properly support the load-bearing structure above, resulting in sagging and uneven floors with noticeable bounce. Before beginning any remodeling work, the homeowner prioritized stabilizing the floor system to protect future investments and ensure long-term structural integrity.
SmartJack Footing Excavation
To prepare for the installation of SmartJacks, sections of the concrete slab are carefully removed to allow for the placement of 12-inch galvanized steel footing plates beneath the slab. These plates serve as stable load-bearing surfaces, ensuring that each SmartJack post is properly supported and capable of transferring structural loads effectively.
Crushed Stone
The galvanized steel footing plates are set atop a compacted bed of crushed stone to ensure proper load distribution and drainage. Once positioned, the plates and SmartJack posts are securely encased in concrete, anchoring the system to the foundation and providing long-term structural support.
SmartJack Posts Connected to Beam
The SmartJackĀ® posts are securely connected to galvanized steel footing plates, and feature adjustable brackets that allow for precise, incremental lifting. This enables the system to not only stabilize weakened floor joists but also gently restore floors to their original elevation. The result is a solid, level surface that eliminates sagging and the bouncy feel often caused by insufficient structural support.
