Failing Fieldstone Foundation Wall
The fieldstone foundation wall exhibited advanced cracking and material deterioration, resulting in a loss of structural integrity and an inability to adequately support the load of the home above.
Rusted Support Columns
The existing basement support columns were inadequately sized and improperly supporting the imposed loads from the floors above, resulting in excessive deflection that manifested as floor bounce, audible creaking, and noticeable sloping.
PowerBrace
PowerBrace steel reinforcement beams were installed along the fieldstone foundation wall to restrain inward displacement and provide a structural framework for the auxiliary wall system.
Auxiliary Wall Footing
A dedicated concrete footing was installed for the auxiliary wall, providing a stable load‑bearing foundation to ensure proper structural support and long‑term performance.
Auxiliary Wall Rebar
Reinforcing steel (rebar) was integrated through the PowerBrace system to strengthen the auxiliary wall and ensure proper bonding and load distribution once the concrete is poured.
Auxiliary Wall Forms
Concrete forms were constructed to define the shape, alignment, and dimensions of the auxiliary wall prior to the concrete pour.
Auxiliary Wall Reinforcement
The formwork was braced and reinforced with lumber to prevent displacement or failure during the concrete pour.
Auxiliary Wall Poured
Concrete was placed between the formwork and the existing fieldstone foundation wall, then mechanically consolidated using vibration to eliminate air voids and ensure proper compaction. After curing, the forms were removed, exposing the completed StableLock auxiliary wall.
SmartJacks
The failing support posts were replaced with SmartJack® steel support systems. These adjustable, galvanized steel columns are engineered to provide superior load‑bearing capacity for floor systems and offer long‑term performance without corrosion.
SaniDry XP Dehumidifier
The basement experienced persistent humidity caused by moisture intrusion through deteriorating fieldstone foundation walls and ongoing groundwater seepage. To effectively manage these conditions, we installed the SaniDry XP dehumidification system. Designed to regulate moisture levels throughout the entire basement, this high-capacity unit continuously removes excess humidity and discharges collected water directly into the existing sump pump system, allowing for fully automatic and maintenance-free operation.
