Foundation Wall Failure
The lower fieldstone section of the foundation wall had experienced significant structural deterioration, with numerous stones becoming displaced and separated from the wall assembly. As the wall continued to lose its load-bearing capacity, the stability of the home's support system was compromised, creating a legitimate risk of foundation failure and floor settlement above. Due to the unique configuration of the crawl space, our team engineered a customized stabilization solution utilizing the StableLock™ Auxiliary Wall System in conjunction with SmartJack® support posts. This approach restored structural support, reinforced the failing wall, and provided a reliable long-term solution for the homeowners' concerns.
Foundation Footing Forms
Formwork was installed to construct a reinforced concrete footing designed to provide a stable load-bearing foundation for the StableLock™ Auxiliary Wall System. Steel reinforcement bars (rebar) were strategically placed and tied within the footing to increase its structural capacity, improve load distribution, and enhance long-term durability and performance.
Foundation Footing Pour
Concrete was placed and meticulously finished to establish reinforced footings capable of supporting the structural loads imposed by the StableLock™ Auxiliary Wall System. Once properly leveled and cured, the footings provided a durable, stable foundation designed to ensure long-term performance and effective load transfer to the underlying soil.
PowerBraces
After the footing had achieved the required cure strength, PowerBrace™ steel beams were securely anchored to the newly constructed footing and mechanically fastened to the floor framing above. These high-strength steel supports serve as the structural framework of the StableLock™ Auxiliary Wall System, creating a rigid load path that transfers forces from the compromised foundation wall to the engineered footing and floor system, thereby enhancing overall stability and long-term structural performance.
StableLock Rebar
A reinforced rebar matrix was strategically installed through and behind the PowerBrace™ steel beams to create a strong bond between the steel framework and the future concrete placement. This engineered reinforcement assembly enhances the tensile strength of the StableLock™ Auxiliary Wall System, improves load distribution, and increases the wall's overall structural capacity and long-term durability once the concrete is poured and cured.
StableLock Wall Forms
StableLock™ wall formwork was carefully constructed to establish the dimensions and profile of the new auxiliary wall. The forms were then reinforced with a system of temporary bracing and supports designed to withstand the pressures exerted by the concrete during placement and curing, ensuring the wall maintained its intended alignment and structural integrity. To further protect the pour, polyurethane foam was applied along the form edges and transitions to create a tight seal, preventing concrete leakage and promoting a clean, uniform finish.
StableLock Wall Pour
Concrete was placed within the StableLock™ Auxiliary Wall forms and carefully consolidated to create a solid, monolithic structure. During placement, a mechanical concrete vibrator was used to eliminate entrapped air and ensure proper consolidation around the reinforcement, maximizing the wall's strength, density, and durability. Once the pour was complete, the concrete surface was accurately finished and leveled to achieve the specified dimensions and a uniform appearance. In addition, a section of the crawl space floor was restored with new concrete, creating a durable and cohesive finished surface around the newly installed stabilization system.
StableLock Auxiliary Wall
After the concrete had reached the required cure strength, the formwork was carefully removed to reveal the completed StableLock™ Auxiliary Wall System. By combining reinforced concrete, integrated steel reinforcement, and engineered support components, the system permanently restores structural stability to the compromised fieldstone foundation wall. The newly reinforced wall is now capable of safely supporting imposed loads and resisting further deterioration, providing a reliable, long-term stabilization solution. With the foundation structurally secured, the homeowners can have confidence in the safety and integrity of their home for years to come.
SmartJacks
SmartJack® support posts were installed atop the newly constructed StableLock™ Auxiliary Wall to provide additional structural support for areas affected by floor settlement. To further enhance the system's effectiveness, supplemental steel beams were incorporated to redistribute loads and support weakened floor framing. The SmartJack® system was then carefully adjusted to lift and stabilize the sunken floor joists, restoring floor elevation where feasible and providing long-term reinforcement to the home's structural support system.
