Sagging Floors
The absence of adequate basement support columns compromised the structural support of the floors above, resulting in progressive floor sagging. Without the installation of a floor stabilization system, the deflection would have continued to worsen over time.
Foundation Floor Excavation
Sections of the basement slab were carefully removed to allow for the excavation and installation of SmartJack® footings beneath the floor system, providing a stable foundation for long-term structural support.
SmartJack Base
A galvanized steel footing base was installed on a properly compacted bed of crushed stone, creating a stable bearing surface for the SmartJack® support post and ensuring effective load distribution.
Floor Stabilization
A supplemental steel beam was installed beneath the floor joists to provide uniform support during the lift and stabilization process. The SmartJack® support posts were then connected to the beam and precisely adjusted to restore the floor system toward its original elevation while eliminating excessive deflection. Once the desired level of support was achieved, the SmartJack® assemblies were permanently secured, and the floor slab was restored with concrete to complete the installation.
Window Well Installation
A SunHouse™ window well and cover system was installed around the basement window to enhance the amount of natural light entering the space. The durable cover helps keep leaves, debris, and other contaminants out of the window well, reducing maintenance requirements.
