Bowing Foundation Wall
The foundation wall exhibited approximately 1.5 inches of inward bowing as a result of excessive lateral soil loads acting against the exterior foundation. This pressure caused significant structural distress, evidenced by horizontal and stair-step cracking throughout the wall. To arrest further deflection and ensure long-term structural stability, a robust wall stabilization system was recommended and installed.
GeoLock Rods
GeoLock® anchor rods were installed by drilling through the foundation wall and extending them to strategically excavated anchor locations outside the home. These high-strength galvanized steel rods create a secure connection between the interior wall plates and exterior earth anchors, forming the foundation of the wall stabilization system.
GeoLock Anchors
Once the anchor rods were extended into the excavated areas outside the home, GeoLock® earth anchors were attached and secured in place. Embedded within stable, undisturbed soil, the anchors provide resistance against lateral earth pressures, effectively stabilizing the foundation wall and preventing further inward movement.
GeoLock Plates
GeoLock® wall plates were installed on the interior face of the foundation wall and connected to the galvanized anchor rods. The system was then tensioned to the specified torque, creating a stabilizing force that counteracts lateral soil pressure and prevents further inward wall movement.
GeoLock Aesthetic Covers
Decorative GeoLock® cover plates were installed over the wall anchors to create a clean, finished appearance while concealing the structural components of the stabilization system.
