Failing Support Posts
The existing lally column and wood support post were no longer providing adequate support for the floor system, resulting in noticeable sagging and excessive floor deflection. To restore stability and help lift the settled floors, a more robust structural support solution was installed.
SmartJack Base Excavation
To prepare for the SmartJack® installation, sections of the basement slab were carefully removed and excavated to accommodate the engineered footing bases. A layer of compacted gravel was then placed to create a stable, level bearing surface capable of supporting the system's structural loads.
SmartJack Base
Engineered steel footing plates were installed beneath the slab to serve as a stable foundation for the SmartJack® support system. Each plate was carefully leveled and positioned to ensure proper load distribution and maximize structural support for the floor system above.
Supplemental Beam
Supplemental steel beams were installed beneath the floor joists to create a continuous load-bearing support system for the SmartJack® posts. Once in place, the SmartJack® assemblies were precisely adjusted to help lift and stabilize the sagging floor structure. Constructed from high-strength, galvanized steel, the SmartJack® system provides long-term structural support while resisting corrosion in basement environments.
SmartJacks Cemented into Foundation
Once the SmartJack® system was fully adjusted, the excavated areas were restored with concrete around the support assemblies. This finalized the installation, securing the system in place while reinstating the basement slab and providing long-term structural support for the floor system above.
