Temporary Supports
Temporary support posts had been relied upon as a permanent solution for the floor system. Over time, these supports deteriorated due to corrosion, resulting in a loss of structural capacity and contributing to significant floor sagging.
Concrete and Soil Removal
Concrete and soil were excavated to create a footing trench approximately 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep, providing a stable foundation for new structural supports.
Footings with Rebar
Reinforcing steel (rebar) was tied and positioned within the concrete footing to increase its strength, durability, and resistance to cracking under structural loads.
Footings Leveled
Concrete was poured and carefully finished to create a level, stable footing surface, ensuring proper installation and load distribution for the SmartJack support system.
SmartJack Installed to Main Beam
Once the concrete footing had reached sufficient strength, the SmartJack® support system was installed and secured to the new foundation. The fully adjustable steel support columns were then precisely calibrated to restore proper elevation to the main beam and optimize load distribution throughout the floor system. By reinforcing the beam and supporting floor joists, the SmartJack system helps correct sagging floors, reduce floor deflection and bounce, and provide long-term structural stability.
Supplemental Beam
Areas of the basement exhibiting inadequate floor support were reinforced with supplemental steel beams installed beneath the floor joists. SmartJack® supports were then positioned beneath the new beams and secured to the basement slab, providing additional structural support and improved load distribution.
