Settling Chimney
Stair-step cracking was observed along the chimney masonry, indicating differential settlement. The chimney had also begun to visibly separate and lean away from the structure, further evidencing ongoing foundation movement.
Push Piers Driven into Soil
Push piers were hydraulically advanced to competent load-bearing strata beneath the structure. This permanently transferred the chimney's load from unstable soils to more suitable bearing material, effectively stabilizing the foundation and preventing further settlement.
Push Piers Pressurized
After the foundation brackets were securely attached to the chimney footing, the push piers were hydraulically synchronized and incrementally pressurized to carefully recover settlement-related movement, lifting the chimney as close as practical to its original position.
Push Piers Capped
After the chimney was restored to the target elevation, the push pier system was secured with locking caps, permanently transferring the structural load to competent bearing strata and preventing future settlement-related movement.
Exterior Push Pier
To provide comprehensive structural support, an additional push pier was installed along the exterior foundation wall, allowing the chimney load to be stabilized and supported from multiple bearing points.
Backfill and Concrete Repair
Upon completion of the pier installation, all excavated areas were properly backfilled and compacted, and the disturbed concrete surfaces were restored to match the existing grade.
