A homeowner in Groton, MA contacted us after discovering radon levels of 15 picocuries in their home, significantly above the Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended limit of 4 picocuries. Radon is a harmful gas that can accumulate in the soil beneath a home’s foundation and seep inside, posing serious respiratory health risks over time.
To address this issue, we installed a radon mitigation system. We began by creating two extraction points in the basement floor and fitting PVC pipes to these points, directing them to the exterior of the home. A radon mitigation fan was then installed on the side of the house. This system is designed to draw radon from the soil beneath the home and safely vent it outside, preventing it from entering the living space. Additional PVC piping was extended from the radon fan to surpass the roofline, ensuring the radon gas is released safely away from any entry points.
With the radon mitigation system now in place, the homeowner can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that their long-term health is protected from the dangers of radon exposure.
