Radon Gas Mitigation Photo Album: Radon Mitigation in Westford, MA
A homeowner in Westford, MA expressed concern about elevated radon levels in their home after a radon test indicated concentrations of 4 picocuries per liter. This level meets the threshold at which the Environmental Protection Agency recommends installing a radon mitigation system. Seeking a permanent solution, the homeowner contacted Erickson Foundation Solutions. We implemented our radon mitigation system, which involved creating an extraction point through the foundation, routing PVC piping from the extraction point to the exterior of the home, installing an active radon fan, and venting radon above the roofline. Additionally, we sealed all basement cracks using NexusPro to further prevent radon gas infiltration. The homeowner immediately observed a reduction in radon levels, ensuring their home is now permanently protected from this hazardous gas.
Radon Extraction Point
A radon extraction point was established in the basement to depressurize the area beneath the slab. PVC piping was then connected to the extraction point and routed to the exterior of the foundation, ensuring the safe removal of radon from beneath the foundation.
Radon Fan
As the PVC pipe extends to the exterior of the home, a radon fan is installed. This fan actively extracts radon from beneath the home's foundation. Additional PVC piping is then connected to the radon fan and extends beyond the roofline, ensuring the safe expulsion of radon away from any potential entry points into the home.
Foundation Floor Crack Sealing
NexusPro was employed to seal all foundation floor cracks, effectively further preventing radon gas from infiltrating the home.
