Radon Gas Mitigation Systems

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as to//bacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Job Stories From Exeter, NH
House Leveling, Exeter, NH

A homeowner in Exeter, New Hampshire needed extra support in his home to keep the structure secure. This homeowner was looking to add that extra stability to the home before having a new foundation slab put in. After he reached out to our Customer Care Specialist, we were more than happy to have our Design Specialist Anthony Brancato inspect the structure and offer a solution.

Anthony recommended installing SmartJacks to provide level floors and durability to the entire home. Foreman Justin Broussard and his team first started installing these SmartJacks by applying a strong crushed stone base in the ground. With this stone in place under ground level, the galvanized steel plate is placed on top. Then, the steel beam is attached to the plate, while also attaching to the supplemental support beam. With the SmartJacks in place, the structure is much more stable.

The homeowner will be getting a new foundation shortly after our installation process. This combination provides a permanent solution for a home that was not properly supported.

Replacing Supports In Crawlspace, Exeter, NH

A homeowner residing in Exeter, New Hampshire, owns a house that was built in the late 1800s. They observed that the supports in the crawlspace were not strong enough to hold the floor system, so they contacted EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist, Liam FitzPatrick, inspected the crawlspace and found that most of the support posts were temporary, with just a couple of wooden supports. Liam recommended replacing the existing supports with 3 SmartJacks and a 12-foot Supplemental Beam.

Our installation team, led by Neal Foley, removed the temporary posts and then dug into the dirt floor to install the cast-in-place footings. The team measured each support to ensure there was ample space for the supplemental beam and then used the adjustable top bracket to lift and stabilize the floor system. Crushed stone was placed over the footings, which were then cast in concrete to lock them into place. Finally, the team laid the black vapor barrier back in place and retaped it.

The homeowners were immensely pleased with the project's outcome and no longer had to worry about the crawlspace supports.

Cracks Allowing Water Into Basement, Brentwood, NH

This homeowner in Brentwood, New Hampshire, has lived in their home for the past 7 years and had seen existing cracks in their basement, but now are seeing water start to enter the basement. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Jason Vachon met with the homeowners and inspected the basement. After his inspection, Jason recommended installing a perimeter drainage system, FlexiSpan, and Crack Injection to waterproof the basement. Additionally, Jason recommended installing 9 Push Piers to the foundation to stabilize it.

Our installation team began by chipping out over 100 feet of concrete around the perimeter of the basement so we could install our WaterGuard and our 2 sump pumps. This will allow us to collect any water that attempts to enter the basement and then pump it outside the basement. We also sealed some cracks on the foundation wall with FlexiSpan and Crack Injection to stop water from penetrating into the basement. After the perimeter drainage system was installed the team then began exposing the foundation to find existing push piers from another company. These piers had failed because not enough were installed. Our team installed 9 Push Piers to the foundation of the home to prevent further movement. After, we backfilled the Piers with the dirt we had removed and returned the soil back to its original grading.

The homeowner was very pleased with the results of the installation of the Push Piers and Perimeter Drainage System. They no longer have to worry about water entering the basement or the foundation settling anymore.

Water Overflows Into Basement Consistently, Exeter, NH

A resident in Exeter, New Hampshire bought a house constructed in 1962 three years ago. Shortly after moving in, they noticed water seeping into their basement whenever it rained. The water would seep through cracks in the walls and floor, causing a mess that needed cleaning up. After cleaning up the basement several times, they decided to seek a permanent solution to prevent water from collecting in the basement.

The homeowner contacted Erickson Foundation Solutions for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist, Victor Tapia, visited and inspected the entire basement to gather all the necessary information before creating a personalized solution for them. After careful consideration, we recommended the installation of a full-perimeter drainage system that would collect any water trying to enter the basement and pump it out of the home.

Our Installation Team, led by Branden Edwards, installed 130' of WaterGuard around the basement perimeter to collect water from the walls or floors. To drain the water that collects in the perimeter drainage, our team integrated our TripleSafe sump pump to collect and push it outside the home. To ensure that the water pumped out of the basement won't come back, we installed a 70' Exterior Drainage Line.

With the Perimeter Drainage System installed, the homeowner no longer worries about water entering the basement and collecting on the floors.

Homeowner Wanted to Have Radon System Installed, Kensington, NH

This homeowner in Kensington, New Hampshire, recently purchased their home less than a week ago. When buying the home they already knew they wanted to have a radon system installed. So when they were moving into their home they called EFS to inspect their home for radon. We used a radon test kit for 48 hours before our appointment to see the levels of radon inside the home. The levels in the home averaged around 5.5 pCi/L. Once our Design Specialist Kenny arrived at the home we have a report of the average radon levels in the home. Kenny then designed a system for the home.

Our installation team arrived and began to install the radon system into the home. We began by creating an extraction point in the basement which we then fed PVC pipe from the extraction point to the exterior of the home. After the PVC pipe was directed outside, the team then installed our radon fan to the PVC pipe and vented the system above the roofline of the home.

The radon system lowered the radon levels in the home to a healthy level. The homeowner was very pleased with the installation of their new radon mitigation system.

Push Piers Installed, Exeter, NH

This homeowner in Exeter, New Hampshire, recently became an empty nester and they planned on remodeling their home. A couple of years ago the homeowner noticed that their home felt to be on a tilt. They reached out to the foundation experts (EFS) and met with our Design Specialist John. John found that the foundation of the home had sunk around 6 inches. The homeowner wanted to build a giant model train set in the basement. They wanted to make sure the basement was safe. John recommended using Push Piers, PolyLevel, and NexusPro to address the foundation concerns, and having SmartJacks, and Concentric Piers to stabilize the interior of the basement. Additionally, since the homeowner will be spending a lot of time in the basement he recommended installing a Radon Mitigation System to reduce the radon levels.

Our production team installed 18 Push Piers around the perimeter of the home's foundation. Next, the team used PolyLevel to lift up the slab of the corner of the home that had sunk 6 inches. After the team moved into the basement and they installed 1 SmartJack and 1 Concentric Pier into the basement to add stability in the basement so the homeowners can fully finish their basement. Lastly, the team installed an extraction point in the slab and installed a radon fan to the exterior of the home to pull radon gas from below the home.

The homeowner was very happy with the results of the project. They will start finishing their basement soon so they can design their model train set in the basement.

1800s Home Needed Sloping Floors Repaired, Exeter, NH

A homeowner recently purchased a home from their mother-in-law in Exeter, New Hampshire. The home was originally built in 1811 but the first family members moved in around the 1930s. The new homeowners were worried about the supports in the basement, the floors were sloping and seemed to be causing damage to the finished work around the home. The new homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our Design Specialist Liam recommended installing 10 SmartJacks into the basement to add support, lift, and level the floors.

Our production team began by mapping out where each support will be installed. After the location of each support was figured out the team then started to chip out sections of the concrete floor for our footings to be installed. Once the team chipped out all of the concrete that they needed, the team then installed 10 footings and made sure to level them. After the footings were installed and leveled the team cut 10 galvanized steel beams to size so they would fit just below the beam in the basement. Once all the beams were cut and installed, the team then connected the adjustable top bracket to the steel beam and then to the support beam. After the top brackets were installed the team then began tightening the adjustable top bracket to slowly push upward on the beams above. Tightening allows the brackets will eventually lift the floor and reduce the slope in the floor. After the floors were in the correct position the team then poured concrete over the footings of each SmartJack to lock them into place and eliminate any tripping hazards.

The homeowner was amazed at the installation of the SmartJack System.

Water Entering Finished Basement, Manchester, NH

A homeowner in Manchester, New Hampshire, had vertical cracks in their foundation that were allowing water into their finished basement. The homeowner was tired of vacuuming up water on their floors. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our design specialist recommended installing a new TripleSafe, WaterGuard, and IceGuard into the basement to collect any water that entered.

Our production team began by chipping out a small trench at the base of the foundation wall spanning 13 feet long. In this trench, the team installed WaterGuard to collect the water entering the basement from the wall/floor. Then, connected to the WaterGuard, the team installed a TripleSafe sump pump. With the sump pump installed the team covered the WaterGuard and TripleSafe with a layer of concrete to cover the system to prevent any tripping hazard. The TripleSafe will collect the water from the perimeter drain and collects it in the sump pump basin until there was enough water for the pump to turn on and expel the water through the drainage line. From the sump pump, the team used a series of PVC pipes to the exterior of the home. Once outside, the team installed an IceGuard to the drainage line to prevent water from backing up into the basement. The team continued the drainage line for 10' so water can seep back into the basement through the ground.

The homeowner was very pleased with the system that EFS installed.

Water Entering Finished Condo Basement, Exeter, NH

An owner of a condo in Exter, New Hampshire, recently had water in their basement after a rainstorm. The homeowner had a Star Wars collection that they would like to protect from water intrusion in the basement. Our design specialist Brian recommended installing WaterGuard, TripleSafe, and IceGuard in the basement to protect their collection from potential water damage.

Our production team began by chipping out the base of the wall where the water entered the basement. Next, the team installed the WaterGuard into the trench and pitched them toward the sump pump. After the WaterGuard was pitched, the team installed the TripleSafe into a basin that the team had dug out. After the team set the TripleSafe in the basin the team plumbed the sump pump and the drainage line together. Connected to the drainage line was an IceGuard, the IceGuard will prevent water from backing up into the basement from the drainage line freezing or somehow clogging. After everything was plumbed and installed, the team poured concrete over the WaterGuard and around the TripleSafe basin.

The homeowner is relieved that the system that EFS installed stops water from collecting the in the finished basement of the condo. The homeowner is thankful they no longer have to worry about water ruining their collection.

Support Main Floor, Exeter, NH

A homeowner in Exeter, New Hampshire, moved into their home 4 years ago and had made some upgrades to the home. They know that they added a significant amount of weight with the upgrades they made to the home. They reached out to EFS to see if the floor system would be able to support the weight they have added. Our design specialist Chris Greenwood recommended bolstering the floor system so the homeowners didn't have to worry about the floor system.

Our production team installed 3 new SmartJacks into the basement. They added one near the stairs down to the basement and replaced two old lally columns with SmartJacks. The team started by chipping out a section of concrete until they reached dirt. Once the concrete is removed the team poured new concrete to make a base for the SmartJack to rest on. Once the concrete cured the team placed the SJ on the base and secured it to the beam above. After the SJ is secured, the team poured concrete over the base to lock the SmartJack into place.

Our team installed the 3 SmartJacks into the basement of the home to strengthen the floor system. The homeowners were happy that they didn't have to worry about if the floor system was strong enough to hold the upgrade they have made.

Concrete Foundation is Out of Level, Exeter, NH

This homeowner in Exeter, New Hampshire had noticed drinks not being level on the countertops. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection.

Design Specialist Michael Bradley inspected the home. Michael found some support posts in the crawlspace that aren't structurally sound. Some of the support posts are installed on unsupported pieces of wood or concrete. The home also lies near a pond and the water from the pond causes some of the ground to be damp, which could cause mold concerns. Michael recommended installing 8 SmartJacks, CleanSpace Drainage Matting, Super Sump, Freeze Guard, and an EverLast Crawlspace Door.

Crew Leads Nick Melo and his team arrived at the home and installed the SmartJacks, CleanSpace Drainage Matting, Super Sump, Freeze Guard, and the Everlast Crawlspace Door.
