Job Stories From Londonderry, NH
Water Leaking into a Finished Basement

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire built their home in the early 2000s. The home has a finished basement that recently had water and moisture leaking onto the floors and walls. The water had damaged the basement floor and walls, and the homeowner wanted to find a solution to prevent further damage. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist, Liam Fitzpatrick, met with the homeowner and inspected the finished basement. Liam recommended the installation of 100 feet of WaterGuard, a TripleSafe, two IceGuards, and a SaniDry Sedona to prevent water and moisture from collecting in the basement.

Our installation team began by chipping out 100 feet of concrete so we could install our perimeter drainage and sump pump. After chipping out the concrete and removing the dirt and debris, we installed the TripleSafe and WaterGuard. We integrated the perimeter drainage into the sump pump basin and plumbed the system to the exterior of the home. Once plumbed to the exterior of the home, we installed our two IceGuards and a 10-foot discharge line to carry water away from the foundation of the home. We then buried the discharge line and returned to the basement to lock the perimeter drainage system in concrete. We poured concrete over the perimeter drainage and around the sump pump basin to lock everything into place. Lastly, we installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier next to the TripleSafe to control the moisture in the basement.

The team cleaned up the basement and yard before taking the homeowner through the final walkthrough. The homeowner was impressed with the system, and we answered any questions the homeowner had before we left.

Sump Pump Replacement, Londonderry, NH

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire built their home in 1983. After a few years of living in the house, the basement flooded and the homeowner had a sump pump installed. The sump pump kept the basement dry for about 20 years, but it started to let water leak into the basement. The homeowners contacted EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist, Issac Hernandez, met with the homeowner and inspected the old sump pump in the basement. After the inspection, Issac recommended installing a SuperSump, TrenchDrain, IceGuard, exterior drainage line, and a SaniDry XP dehumidifier to keep water and moisture out of the basement.

Our installation team began by removing the old sump pump and replacing it with a bigger and better one. To make room for the new sump pump and perimeter drainage, the team chipped out concrete using a jackhammer. After cleaning up the debris, we installed the new pump and drainage system in the basement. Next, the team plumbed the system to the exterior of the home where we installed the IceGuard and EDL to carry water away from the foundation of the home. The drainage line was 12 feet long and buried in the yard to conceal it. After the exterior drainage was fully installed, the team returned to the basement to pour concrete over the perimeter drainage and around the sump pump basin. Lastly, the team installed our SaniDry XP.

At the end of the project, the homeowners were pleased with the results.

Local Business Needs Floor Stabilized, Londonderry, NH

A local business in Londonderry, New Hampshire, had their basement flood a couple of years ago which prompted them to have a sump pump installed in the large basement. After the water had been pumped out they had noticed that the floors felt bouncy. To find a solution to this problem they decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their basement. Our Design Specialist Victor Tapia met with the manager of the business and talked to them about their concerns. After their conversation, Victor went into the basement to inspect the supports and recommended a solution for them. His solution was to install 87 SmartJacks, 3 TripleSafes, and 3500 sqft of CleanSpace into the basement.

Our installation team began by installing the SmartJacks into the basement. For each section of SmartJacks to be installed our team had to first remove the old supports. We installed a total of 87 SmartJacks before installing our 3 TripleSafe sump pumps in the basement. After the sumps were installed the team then installed 3500 sqft of CleanSpace to encapsulate the basement.

The owner of the building was very impressed with the products installed inside their basement. They no longer have any bounce in their floors or any concerns with water in the basement.

Rotting Lally Columns in Garage Need to be Replaced, Londonderry, NH

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, purchased their home in 1996. Over the years they have seen the lally columns inside their garage begin to rot. They have begun to worry about the structural integrity of the lally columns, so they reached out to EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Anthony Brancato met with the homeowners and talked about their concerns. After talking with the homeowners Anthony then inspected the garage and the rotting supports. After a complete inspection of the space, Anthony recommended replacing the two lally columns with two SmartJacks.

Our installation team began by setting up temporary posts inside the basement so we could remove the existing lally columns. Our team removed the rotting lally columns and then began chipping out two sections of concrete so we could install the footing for our SmartJacks beneath the concrete. After the footings were in place the team measured and cut the Smartjack to the correct size. They placed the support onto the footing and then connected the SJ to the main beam using our adjustable bracket. After the SmartJacks were installed we then mixed-up concrete and poured it over the footings. The concrete will lock the SmartJack into place.

Encapsulating Crawlspace, Londonderry, NH

This homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire purchased their home in 1998. After living in the home for over 20 years they found that they had some settlement in the floor system of their home. The homeowner wanted to address this concern but first wanted to solve the issue of moisture in the crawlspace before fixing the beam. The homeowners called EFS for a free inspection of their crawlspace. Our Design Specialist Tom Armano met with the homeowners and then inspected the crawlspace so he could find a solution to their problem. After Tom's inspection, he recommended installing SmartPipe, SmartSump, IceGuard, CleanSpace, and a SaniDry Sedona into the crawlspace.

Our Installation team led by Abdou Taal began by digging out the perimeter of the crawlspace so we could install 160' of SmartPipe. After the perimeter drainage was installed the team then installed the SmartSump into the crawlspace so we could pump out any water collected by the drainage system. After the drainage system was installed the team then plumbed the system to the exterior of the home and installed our IceGuard and Exterior Drainage Line to carry water away from the foundation. Then the team returned inside the crawlspace and installed 1,735 sqft of CleanSpace so we could encapsulate the space. After the space was fully encapsulated the last part of the job was to install our SaniDry Sedona so we could control the humidity inside the crawlspace. With everything installed, the homeowners can now plan to fix the beam that is settling.

Water Leaking into Basement, Londonderry, NH

This homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, had lived in their home for the past 5 years. Since they moved into their home they have seen water entering the basement. To try and stop the water the homeowners have installed a few things that should've reduced the amount of water coming into the basement. They installed gutters and downspouts in their home to collect water but the water collected didn't prevent more from entering the basement. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist met with the homeowner and inspected their home. We recommended installing a SuperSump and IceGuard to collect any water that threatened to enter the basement.

Our installation team led by Steve Dumais began by chipping out a small section of concrete in the basement slab. After the concrete was chipped to the size of our sump pump basin we dug down a couple of feet until our basin would fit flush with the rest of the basement slab. Once the basin was fully installed we then installed the SuperSump and began plumbing the system to the exterior of the home. After the system was plumbed to the exterior of the home, we installed an IceGuard and Exterior Drainage Line to carry water away from the foundation.

Stabilizing Foundation of Business, Londonderry, NH

A business in Londonderry, New Hampshire, was growing and needed to install two additional loading docks to the one they currently have. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection of their foundation. Our Design Specialist Kenny Calabrese met with the building manager and walked through the building and inspected the foundation. Kenny found that installing the two loading docks could cause additional stress to the floors and foundation of the building. Kenny recommended reinforcing the foundation and foundation walls with Push Piers and Helical Piers.

Our Installation Team led by Neal Foley began by exposing the foundation wall where the loading dock will be installed on. Our team will install 11 Helical Piers under the footing of the foundation and another 9 Helical Piers installed horizontally under the loading docks. Once we exposed the foundation wall all the way to the footing, the team then chipped out some of the footings so we could install our Helical Piers to stabilize the foundation. After we installed the 11 piers along the foundation wall the team then began coring out concrete from the foundation wall. We cored a series of 5 holes to be installed under the 22' wide loading dock and then we cored 4 more holes for the second loading dock that will be 18' wide. These holes will allow us to install our Helical Piers through the foundation wall and stabilize it. After we installed a galvanized plate to the end of the pier and tightened it against the foundation to stabilize the wall. Lastly, the team called the inspector so they could have records for the town. After the inspector did their inspection of our work and confirmed our work we then backfilled and tamped dirt over the piers we installed.

After the project was complete, the business was able to start installing its new loading docks.

Windows Sticking on Sunroom, Londonderry, NH

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, has lived in their home for the past 26 years. About 15 years ago the homeowner built a sunroom onto the back of their home and about 2 years ago the homeowner noticed the windows in the sunroom were getting tight. They felt them getting tighter over time and decided they wanted to find a solution to this problem. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our Design Specialist Tom recommended replacing the supports under the sunroom with our Helical Piers.

Our installation team began by setting up temporary posts around the sunroom. After the temp posts were set up, the team then removed the old posts and began setting them up to send our Helical Piers into the ground. Our team used a hydraulic drive head to send 5 Helicals under the sunroom. They screwed the piers into the ground until they reached 2200 psi. On this job, the average depth of each pier was 12ft. Once all the piers were pressurized the team then attached our porch bracket and cut 6x6 pressure-treated wood to connect the porch bracket to the bottom of the porch. The team made sure the porch was level before removing any of the temporary posts.

The homeowner was impressed with our Helical Piers and wished they had used them 15 years ago.

Radon Mitigation and Water Proofing Installation, Londonderry, NH

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, had been living in their home for the past 20 years. Since they moved in the homeowners have noticed water entering their basement. They never thought it was that big of an issue since it would only happen during periods of a lot of rain but no the homeowners just want to repair it. Along with the water coming into the basement, the homeowners think that they have high radon levels in their homes and would like to have a radon mitigation system installed. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection, and our design specialist recommended installing a Radon Mitigation System, UltraSump with IceGuard XL, and Flexispan into the basement to reduce the radon and water collecting in the basement.

Our team began by sealing the crack in the basement with the Flexispan. The Flexispan will cover the crack and create a channel that collects the water that enters through that crack. The team chips out a small section of the concrete to make drainage so the water will never enter the basement. After the Flexispan was set up, the team then moved on to installing the UltraSump and IceGuard XL in the basement. The team first created a basin for the UltraSump by chipping out some concrete and digging out enough dirt to set the basin in the hole. Once the UltraSump fit into the hole, the team began plumbing the sump pump to the exterior of the home. The team finished plumbing the exterior of the home and connected the IceGuard XL to the plumbing. The IceGuard will prevent water from backing up the drainage line causing it back up into the basement. Following the installation of the UltraSump the team began setting up the radon mitigation system. The team first created the extraction point in a predetermined location in the basement. The team drilled through the concrete and connected the PVC pipe to the extraction point to start collecting radon-filled air. The team then fed the PVC piping out to the exterior of the home. The team then installed the Radon Fan to the exterior of the home and attached the radon pipe to the fan and then vented the system above the roof of the home. This will ensure that no radon can re-enter the home.

Porch is Sinking More Every Year, Londonderry, NH

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, had a porch that was sinking more and more every year. For the past five summers, the homeowners have jacked up their porch to try and stop it from sinking. The homeowner also noticed a large void under the edge of their pool deck that they would like filled. The homeowner wanted to find a permanent solution. Our design specialist Michael Bradley recommended using EZ Posts to support the porch and PolyLevel to fill void under the pool deck.

Our production team began by installing 5 EZ Posts to support the porch. The team removed the concrete piers from the 3 supports in the front and one support from each side. The team replaced the concrete piers with essentially a giant screw. The team used a hydraulic drive head to twist the screw into the ground until sustainable pressure is found. The EZ post is then attached to the wooden support of the porch. After the EZ post were installed, the team moved on to fill the void under the pool deck. The team used the poly spray gun to free spray the void under the pool deck. Once the poly is sprayed out of the gun it rapidly expands to several times its size filling the area it was sprayed into in no time.

The homeowner was very happy that they don't have to do yearly maintenance on their porch anymore.

Stamped Concrete Patio is Sinking, Londonderry, NH

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, had a stamped concrete pool patio that is sinking. The patio had been poured at two different times and the concrete is sinking where the two batches of concrete meet. The homeowner would like to have the concrete lifted to eliminate any tripping hazards. Our design specialist Isaac examined the concrete patio and recommended installing PolyLevel to lift the stamped concrete.

Our production team first created small port holes in the area where the concrete is sinking. The team then used PolyLevel to lift each section of concrete until they were level. After the slabs were leveled, the team used universal concrete to seal the port holes. The homeowner was happy with the results of the project. They are relieved that they don't have to worry about anyone tripping.

High Humidity Causing Mold Growth, Londonderry, NH

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, had mold growing in the upstairs of their home. They also have standing water and high humidity in the basement. Our design specialist examined the basement and noticed the high humidity and the standing water in the basement. After our specialist walked through the basement, they recommended installing a perimeter drainage system, a humidifier, and an air purifier in the basement.

Our production team first chipped out a 132 linear foot trench around the perimeter of the basement to hold the WaterGuard again the foundation wall. Second, the team chipped out and dug a basin for a Tripesafe Sump Sump. The TripleSafe is placed into the basin and is connected to the perimeter drainage system to collect all of the water and send it outside of the home. On the way out of the home, the water will run through a FreezeGuard. The guard will prevent the discharge line from backing up the system if the water line freezes. Next, the team attached the CleanSpace Encapsulation to the foundation walls in the basement to funnel all water coming down the wall into the perimeter drain. Following the CleanSpace, the team installed a SaniDry dehumidifier and an Aspen Air Purifier in the basement to condition the air.

With the waterproofing system, the dehumidifier, and the air purifier installed the home will be able to drop the relative humidity and prevent water from collecting in the basement as well as have better air quality in the home.

CleanSpace Installation Under Family Room, Londonderry, NH

A homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire, has lived in their home for 31 years but the home was built 200 years ago. The homeowner would like to encapsulate the area under the family room. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection.

Design Specialist Chris Greenwood inspected the basement of the home. Chris measured the total area of the section that the homeowner would like encapsulated. Chris then talked to the homeowner about additional products that are commonly paired with CleanSpace. Chris recommended installing Rim Joist PolyLevel Wall Restoration to ensure that air from the basement doesn't seep into the family room.

Crew Lead Anthony Rivas and his team installed 830 sqft of CleanSpace and Rim Joist PolyLevel Wall Restoration into the basement.

Settling Home, Londonderry, NH

This homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire has been living in their home for the past 48 years. Over the years, they have noticed some cracking in the garage and the basement but didn't think much of it. Now they realized that the cracks are getting worse every year. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection.

Design Specialist Chris Greenwood gave the home a full inspection. He found that both the cracks in the garage and the basement are caused by the settling. Chris recommended installing 12 Push Piers to the home. 6 Push Piers in the front and 6 in the back. Chris also recommended Nexus Crack Repair and PolyLevel for the cracks in the foundation wall and garage.

Crew Lead Scott Crandall and his team arrived and installed all 12 of the Push Piers to the front and back of the home. After the Push Piers are installed, a second crew led by Nick Melo arrived and installed the PolyLevel and Nexus Pro.

Replacing Lally Columns, Londonderry, NH

Jason G. of Londonderry, New Hampshire, wanted to replace his lally columns in his garage. Design Specialist Paul Magowan came to the home to inspect the garage. Paul proposed that instead of installing new lally columns Jason has EFS install SmartJacks into the garage instead.

Crew Lead Spencer Ladd and his team came to the home and removed the lally columns and installed the new Smart Jacks into the garage. Before this project, Jason didn't know Smart Jacks were a product but now he trusts them more than lally columns.

Push Piers Installation, Londonderry, NH

Miles C. of Londonderry, New Hampshire was having concerns with his homes foundation. He was experiencing sticking doors and windows, cracks in the foundation walls, sloping and sagging floors, and a cracked slabs outside. Design Specialist Paul Magowan came to the home and looked over all of the homeowner's concerns and proposed that his home would benefit from Push Piers and some PolyLevel.

Crew Lead Nick Melo and his team came to the home and dug down to expose the foundation footing. When they got to the footing they installed Helical Piers in the affected areas to permanently stabilize the walls. After all the piers were pressed down to their desired PSI, the crew filled the void with PolyLevel as well, a polymer based expansion foam.

Foundation Pier Installation, Londonderry, NH

This homeowner in Londonderry, New Hampshire was experiencing their house settling and beginning to sink. With the issues getting worse, the homeowner called Erickson Foundation Solutions and set up a meeting with Design Specialist Paul Magowan. Paul came to the home and looked over the homeowner's concerns. He recommended installing push piers to stabilize and stop the home from sinking any further.

Crew Lead Chris Hanulek and his team came to the home to install the push piers beneath the foundation. They start by digging near the affected areas to expose the footing of the foundation. Then they create a notch on the foundation where they can attach the brackets that hold the push pier in place. Next, they use a hydraulic press to push the pier down into the ground until it hits a substantial force that the home can rest on. Although it is not guaranteed, it is not uncommon to see a house lift a couple of inches. In this case the home was slightly lifted, and permanently stabilized against any further settlement.
