This homeowner in Salem, Massachusetts, had an existing drainage system installed in their basement and the basement was now leaking from a different area. The homeowner reached out to EFS for a free inspection of their basement to add more drainage. Our Design Specialist Michael LaMalfa visited the home and recommended installing a TripeSafe, WaterGuard, SaniDry, and a feed line into the basement to capture any water that attempts to enter the basement. 

A homeowner in Salem, Massachusetts has experienced damages in her finished basement due to her sump pump failing to work. Without the sump pump working, the sump basin overflows and floods the stair area of the basement. This has led to the homeowner having to remove her carpet. Sick of having a constantly wet basement, she called our Erickson team for a permanent solution.

Our Design Specialist, George Gouthier, recommended installing WaterGuard perimeter drainage, TripleSafe sump pump system, and CleanSpace vapor barrier. The perimeter drainage system intercepts water before being exposed to the basement walls and floor, and is then directed towards the sump pump basin. From there, the TripleSafe sump pump system pumps the water out of the home through an exterior discharge line. This system is guaranteed not to fail due to our three-pump system. The first pump handles normal water levels while operating at 1/3 horsepower. A second pump is activated during events such as heavy rains or melting, when water levels are typically higher. Lastly, a battery-backup pump is used in the event of an emergency such as a power outage. The CleanSpace vapor barrier eliminates moisture in the basement by directing it to the WaterGuard system.

Although the placement of this sump pump system was difficult, our team welcomed the challenge. We were happy to provide this homeowner with a permanently dry basement!

Our Design Specialist, Kenneth Calabrese, recommended installing SmartJacks in the basement. These SmartJacks are similar to Lally columns, while offering more support and providing permanent stability. Typically, these SmartJacks are cemented into the foundation. Since the basement floor was composed of pebbles, the SmartJack steel plates were buried in them. This allows for the SmartJacks to be cemented into the foundation if/when the homeowner has a concrete slab poured.

With the installation of these 5 SmartJacks, the floors are now stabilized and level.
