Wet Basement
Notice the improvised sump pump system in the corner of the basement, consisting of a bucket placed in an excavated section of the floor and a pump intended to manage groundwater intrusion. Despite this setup, water was still entering the basement, demonstrating that the system was inadequate for controlling seepage. Additionally, the exposed sump pit allowed excess moisture and humidity to enter the space, creating conditions conducive to mold growth, wood rot, and elevated indoor humidity levels. These conditions can compromise structural materials, reduce air quality, and limit the basement's suitability for safe storage or future finishing.
WaterGuard Perimeter Drainage System
WaterGuard® was installed along the entire perimeter of the basement to provide comprehensive groundwater management. Unlike traditional drain tile systems, WaterGuard is positioned directly on top of the foundation footing, preventing clogging from soil and sediment while intercepting groundwater seepage before it can enter the living space. The system is carefully pitched to direct collected water efficiently toward the sump pump basin, where it is discharged safely away from the home, helping to maintain a dry, healthy basement environment year-round.
CleanSpace Vapor Barrier
To manage moisture infiltration, CleanSpace® was installed along the foundation wall as a high-performance vapor barrier. This system minimizes humidity and water vapor transmission while channeling any wall moisture directly into the WaterGuard® drainage system for controlled collection and discharge.
TrenchDrain Surface Drainage
Because the existing PVC pipe prevented the installation of WaterGuard® in this section, TrenchDrain® was utilized as an effective surface drainage system. The drain captures incoming water and safely redirects it around the fixed obstruction, maintaining uninterrupted water management and protecting the basement from seepage.
TripleSafe Sump Pump
The TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System features a comprehensive three-pump design engineered to provide reliable basement protection under a wide range of water conditions. The primary pump efficiently manages normal groundwater intrusion, while the secondary pump automatically activates during periods of elevated water volume, such as heavy rainfall or rapid snowmelt. For added security, a battery-powered backup pump serves as a third line of defense, ensuring continuous operation and dependable water removal even during power outages. This layered approach provides homeowners with maximum protection and peace of mind year-round.
Discharge Line
Water collected by the drainage system is discharged safely away from the home through a dedicated discharge line. To provide year-round protection, an IceGuard® discharge fitting was installed on the exterior discharge line. This specialized component allows water to escape if the discharge line becomes obstructed, most commonly due to freezing temperatures, preventing water from backing up into the sump system and reducing the risk of basement flooding. Additionally, a LawnScape™ outlet (bubbler pot) was installed at the termination point of the discharge line to promote efficient dispersion of water into the surrounding soil, helping to ensure proper drainage away from the foundation.
