Failing Sump Pump
The home's existing sump pump was a makeshift system that did not provide adequate groundwater control. Upon failure, groundwater infiltration occurred through the foundation drainage system, resulting in basement seepage and increased humidity levels. The uncovered sump basin further contributed to moisture entering the basement air. To ensure effective water management, reduce humidity, and protect the basement from future water intrusion, a high-performance sump pump system was necessary.
Wet Basement Floor
Efflorescence had begun developing on the basement floor, indicating ongoing water infiltration through the concrete slab. As moisture migrates through the concrete, it carries dissolved minerals to the surface, leaving behind the white crystalline deposits commonly known as efflorescence. In addition to these signs of moisture intrusion, previous flooding events had damaged stored belongings, resulting in the loss and disposal of personal property.
TripleSafe Sump Pump Installation
The TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System is engineered with a three-pump configuration designed to provide redundant protection and adapt to varying groundwater conditions. The primary pump handles normal water volumes, a secondary pump activates during periods of heavy water intrusion, and a battery-powered backup pump ensures continued operation during power outages. The system also features an airtight, sealed sump liner that helps reduce moisture and humidity within the basement while preventing debris from entering the basin. For added protection, the integrated WaterWatch® alarm continuously monitors water levels and alerts the homeowner if water rises above the normal operating range, providing early warning of potential pump or drainage issues.
Discharge Line Exiting Basement
Collected groundwater is discharged from the sump pump system through a dedicated discharge line designed to safely convey water away from the foundation. The discharge piping routes through the basement and exits through the home's exterior siding, directing water away from the structure to help prevent recirculation and reduce the risk of future water intrusion.
IceGuard
At the exterior discharge point, an IceGuard® discharge fitting was installed to provide freeze protection for the sump pump system. This specialized component serves as a secondary escape route for water in the event the discharge line becomes obstructed by ice or other blockages during cold weather. By allowing water to safely exit the system before a backup occurs, IceGuard® helps prevent pressure buildup, system failure, and the potential for basement flooding caused by water backing up into the sump basin.
Discharge Line Buried
A LawnScape™ outlet was installed at the termination point of the discharge line to protect the outlet from damage and obstruction while promoting efficient dispersal of discharged water into the surrounding soil. The low-profile design also provides a clean, aesthetically pleasing appearance that blends seamlessly with the landscape. To further enhance the property's appearance and minimize visibility, the discharge line was buried below grade, preserving the lawn's overall aesthetics while maintaining effective drainage away from the foundation.
