Sump Pump Not Collecting Water
Although the existing sump pump was operating as intended, the elevated groundwater conditions and consistently high water table exceeded its ability to capture all subsurface water intrusion. To effectively manage the hydrostatic pressure and prevent moisture accumulation, a comprehensive perimeter drainage system was recommended.
WaterGuard Basement Drainage System
WaterGuard® was installed beneath the basement floor along the interior perimeter to create a comprehensive drainage pathway. To accommodate the system, a section of the concrete slab was carefully removed, allowing the drain to be positioned at the footing level where groundwater pressure is most effectively relieved. The system intercepts groundwater before it can enter the living space and channels it directly to the sump pump system for safe discharge, providing reliable, long-term basement moisture control. Concrete is then restored and leveled to grade.
TrenchDrain Surface Drainage
To prevent surface water from entering through the bulkhead entrance, a TrenchDrain™ surface drainage system was installed at the base of the stairwell. Designed to intercept and collect water before it can reach the basement, the system is seamlessly integrated with the WaterGuard® interior drainage network. Together, these systems create a unified water management solution, directing both surface and groundwater efficiently to the sump pump for safe discharge and long-term protection against water intrusion.
WaterGuard Tied into Existing Sump Pump
The WaterGuard® drainage system was integrated with the existing sump pump to create a complete groundwater management solution. By capturing water along the basement perimeter and directing it to the sump basin, the system collects groundwater that previously bypassed the sump pump. Once in the basin, the water is efficiently discharged from the home, reducing hydrostatic pressure and providing reliable, long-term protection against basement water intrusion.
