Water Pooling in Basement
The homeowners were increasingly concerned about water intrusion in their basement, as standing water threatened potential utility damage, elevated indoor humidity levels, and created conditions conducive to mold growth. The moisture was also causing damage to the finished living space. The underlying issue was hydrostatic pressure exerted against the foundation walls, forcing groundwater into the basement through the cold joint where the wall and footing meet.
Basement Waterproofing
To address the water intrusion, the WaterGuard® Interior Drainage System was installed along the basement perimeter at the wall-footing joint (cold joint), where groundwater most commonly enters. The system captures seepage before it reaches the basement floor and channels it directly to the TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System. Equipped with three levels of pumping protection-including a battery-powered backup pump-the TripleSafe system provides dependable water evacuation and continued basement protection, even during power outages.
Discharge Line
Water collected by the sump system is discharged safely away from the foundation through a dedicated exterior discharge line. An IceGuard® discharge fitting is incorporated into the system to provide an emergency escape route for water in the event the discharge line becomes obstructed by ice or freezing temperatures, preventing backups into the basement. At the termination point, a LawnScape™ outlet (bubbler pot) is installed to disperse water efficiently into the surrounding soil while minimizing erosion. The discharge line is then buried below grade, preserving the property's appearance while maintaining reliable, long-term drainage performance.
Basement Dehumidifier
To maintain healthy humidity levels throughout the basement, a SaniDry™ XP high-performance dehumidification system was installed in the utility room and ducted to the finished living area. This configuration allows the system to efficiently control moisture throughout the entire basement while keeping the equipment discreetly out of sight. By reducing excess humidity, the SaniDry XP helps prevent mold growth, musty odors, and moisture-related damage, creating a healthier and more comfortable indoor environment without impacting the aesthetics of the finished space.
