Flooded Elevator Shaft
The elevator shaft experienced persistent water infiltration due to hydrostatic pressure forcing groundwater through the lowest point of the basement, raising concerns about the long-term reliability and performance of the elevator system.
Basement Leaks
Water intrusion was severe enough to result in standing water across portions of the basement floor, causing damage to finished materials, including drywall, and creating conditions conducive to mold growth.
Failing Sump Pump
The existing sump pump system lacked the capacity and drainage strategy necessary to effectively collect and discharge groundwater intrusion, leaving the basement vulnerable to ongoing water damage. A comprehensive waterproofing solution was required to protect both the basement and the elevator shaft from future moisture-related issues.
WaterGuard
To facilitate the installation of the WaterGuard® perimeter drainage system, the water-damaged lower sections of drywall and a portion of the concrete basement slab were removed. The drainage system was then installed at the foundation footing, where it effectively intercepts groundwater infiltration before it can reach the basement interior. Captured water is directed into the sump pump system.
Concrete Removal for Drainage System
To facilitate the installation of the StarPipe® drainage system, a section of the concrete slab surrounding the elevator shaft was carefully removed. This provided access for the drainage components to be installed, allowing groundwater to be effectively captured and directed away from the shaft area.
StarPipe
A layer of clean crushed stone was placed within the trench to enhance water flow while preventing sediment buildup that could impede drainage performance. The StarPipe® system was then installed with a calculated pitch to ensure positive drainage toward the sump pump system. Positioned beneath the elevator shaft at a depth sufficient to intercept groundwater migration, StarPipe® captures sub-slab water before it can enter the shaft, providing proactive protection against future water intrusion.

The StarPipe® system is directly integrated with the sump pump liner, creating a seamless drainage pathway that efficiently conveys collected groundwater to the discharge system for removal.
StarPipe Submerged in Stone
Once the StarPipe® was properly positioned and connected, the trench was backfilled with washed crushed stone to maximize water flow, improve drainage capacity, and help prevent sediment accumulation around the system.
StarPipe Concreted
Following installation, the StarPipe® system was permanently protected beneath a concrete slab restoration. The concrete was finished flush with the existing floor elevation, restoring the structural integrity and usability of the foundation floor while maintaining the effectiveness of the sub-slab drainage system.
SuperSump Sump Pump
Designed for reliable, high-performance water removal, the SuperSump® pump system actively manages groundwater collected by the drainage system. Integrated with a WaterWatch® Alarm, the system provides an added layer of protection by notifying the homeowner of elevated water levels within the sump liner before flooding can occur.
EverLast Half Wall
The lower section of the finished wall was restored using the EverLast® Half Wall System, an inorganic wall solution designed to resist water damage, mold growth, and deterioration. In addition to its durability, the system provides a clean, finished appearance that complements the basement's overall aesthetic.
