Foundation Wall Crack
Groundwater was infiltrating the basement through cracks in the foundation walls, introducing excess moisture and creating elevated humidity levels that contributed to musty odors. If left unresolved, the ongoing water intrusion could lead to deterioration of finished materials, including drywall, and increase the risk of mold growth and additional basement damage.
Foundation Crack Seal
The foundation wall cracks were permanently repaired using a high-performance polyurethane injection system designed to penetrate and seal the full depth of each crack. Once cured, the material creates a flexible, watertight barrier that helps prevent groundwater intrusion. The cracks were then professionally finished and sealed, providing long-term protection against water infiltration and helping maintain a dry, healthier basement environment.
Finished Basement Damage
Water intrusion had caused damage to the basement's finished flooring and drywall, compromising both the appearance and integrity of the space. Due to prolonged moisture exposure, the affected materials had to be removed to eliminate the potential for mold growth, prevent further deterioration, and prepare the basement for a comprehensive waterproofing solution and future finishing plans.
WaterGuard Concrete Removal
To install the WaterGuard® drainage system, concrete was carefully removed along the interior perimeter of the basement at the wall-floor joint. This provided access to the area immediately above the foundation footing, allowing the drainage system to be strategically positioned where water commonly enters.
WaterGuard Basement Drainage System
WaterGuard® was installed within a bed of clean drainage stone along the interior perimeter of the basement. Positioned just above the foundation footing, the system is designed to intercept groundwater at its point of entry and efficiently direct it to the sump pump system. By capturing and managing water before it reaches the basement floor, WaterGuard® helps maintain a dry, protected environment and reduces the risk of future water-related damage.
WaterGuard Connected to PowerBraces
As part of a previous foundation stabilization project, Erickson Foundation Solutions installed PowerBrace™ wall support beams to address foundation wall movement and help prevent further inward bowing. These galvanized steel supports were installed with specialized bases designed to accommodate future waterproofing upgrades, including seamless integration with the WaterGuard® drainage system. This collaborative design allows any water collected within the drainage system to flow unobstructed through the brace bases and directly to the sump pump, ensuring effective water management without compromising the structural reinforcement of the foundation walls.
CleanSpace
CleanSpace® was installed along the foundation walls to create a durable moisture barrier and help manage any water vapor or seepage entering through the wall structure. The system is designed to direct wall moisture down to the WaterGuard® drainage system, where it can be collected and routed safely to the sump pump for discharge. In addition to supporting a drier basement environment and reducing humidity-related concerns, the bright white liner enhances the appearance of the space and provides a clean, finished look. The system can also serve as a suitable surface behind finished wall systems, making it an ideal solution for homeowners planning to complete their basement.
WaterGuard Concreted
Following installation, the WaterGuard® system underwent a flood test to verify proper drainage performance and ensure water was flowing efficiently to the sump pump system. Once testing was successfully completed, the drainage channel was encapsulated with concrete to restore the basement floor to its original grade. This process permanently secures the system beneath the slab while maintaining a clean, finished appearance and preserving full functionality of the waterproofing system.
TrenchDrain
TrenchDrain™ is a surface drainage system engineered to work in conjunction with the WaterGuard® basement drainage system. It is strategically installed in areas where water may enter at the floor level or where permanent obstacles, such as water heaters, furnaces, or other utilities, prevent the installation of traditional perimeter drainage. The system efficiently captures surface water and redirects it into the WaterGuard® network, allowing water to bypass these obstructions and flow directly to the sump pump for discharge, ensuring continuous and effective basement water management.
TripleSafe Sump Pump
The TripleSafe™ Sump Pump System is a comprehensive basement water management solution designed to provide multiple layers of protection against water intrusion. Featuring three levels of pumping capability, including a battery-powered backup pump for operation during power outages, the system offers reliable performance under both normal and high-water conditions. By efficiently collecting and discharging groundwater from the basement drainage network, the TripleSafe™ system helps maintain a dry basement environment and provides homeowners with added peace of mind during heavy rainfall and severe weather events.
Discharge Line
The system's discharge line is designed to safely convey collected groundwater away from the home's foundation, helping prevent water from recirculating back into the basement. An IceGuard® discharge fitting was installed on the exterior discharge line to provide protection during winter conditions. In the event the discharge line becomes frozen or obstructed, IceGuard® allows water to escape through specially designed openings, preventing backups that could compromise the waterproofing system. To promote efficient drainage at the termination point, a bubbler pot was installed at the end of the discharge line. This component helps disperse water into the surrounding soil in a controlled manner, reducing erosion and improving groundwater absorption. Once installation was complete, the discharge line was buried below grade, preserving the property's appearance while protecting the line from damage and exposure to the elements.
Aspen Air Purifier
The Aspen Air Purifier was installed within the home's living space to enhance indoor air quality and support a healthier indoor environment. Utilizing advanced air filtration technology, the system is designed to capture and reduce airborne contaminants, including dust, allergens, mold spores, bacteria, and other microscopic particles that can affect occupant comfort and respiratory health. By continuously circulating and purifying the air throughout the home, the Aspen Air Purifier helps create cleaner, fresher indoor air while complementing the basement waterproofing system's efforts to control moisture and improve overall home health.
