Basement Water Intrusion
Water infiltration was occurring through cold joints in the foundation, resulting in periodic standing water in the basement during heavy rainfall and seasonal snowmelt. To effectively control groundwater intrusion and protect the office space from moisture-related damage, a comprehensive basement waterproofing system was necessary to maintain a consistently dry and usable environment.
WaterGuard Basement Drainage System
To install the WaterGuard® perimeter drainage system, a section of concrete was removed along the basement perimeter to expose the footing-wall joint. The drainage system was then positioned in a bed of clean crushed stone and carefully pitched to promote positive flow toward the sump pump system. By intercepting groundwater at the point of entry, WaterGuard captures and redirects water before it can reach the basement interior, providing reliable, long-term moisture control.
WaterGuard Concreted into Foundation Floor
Following a successful flood test to verify proper drainage and system performance, the WaterGuard® system was encapsulated with concrete and restored flush with the existing basement floor. This process permanently secures the drainage system in place while returning the floor to its original elevation and providing a clean, finished appearance.
Feed Line and Sump Pump
A dedicated feed line was installed to convey collected water to the SuperSump® system, allowing groundwater to drain from the basement's lowest elevation while positioning the sump basin in a location that minimizes disruption to the office space. The SuperSump® then efficiently discharges the collected water away from the foundation, providing reliable protection against water intrusion and helping maintain a dry, functional basement environment.
Feed Line Concreted into Basement Floor
Once installed, the feed line was backfilled and concreted flush with the existing slab, restoring a smooth, uniform basement floor. This finish not only protects the drainage components beneath the slab but also preserves the functionality and appearance of the office space while maintaining an unobstructed drainage path to the sump system.
