Moisture accumulated in the crawl space, which led to high humidity and the insulation falling out of the joists.
Crawl Space Insulation and Encapsulation
SilverGlo insulation was applied to the crawl space foundation walls, providing a water-resistant barrier that enhances energy efficiency and inhibits mold growth. To address water management, drainage matting was installed on the crawl space floor, facilitating efficient water drainage back into the soil and preventing pooling. Over this matting, TerraBlock was placed, serving dual purposes of insulation and encapsulation. Finally, CleanSpace, a robust polyurethane vapor barrier, was meticulously installed along the crawl space floor and up the foundation walls. This comprehensive installation effectively prevents moisture ingress, thereby mitigating mold growth, reducing humidity, and protecting against potential wood rot.
Finished Basement Water Damage
Water infiltration resulted in significant damage to the finished floors and walls in the basement, posing a risk to stored items. Consequently, it was necessary to remove the affected flooring and sections of drywall to mitigate further damage.
WaterGuard
WaterGuard was strategically installed along the perimeter of the basement foundation walls to intercept water before it infiltrates the basement. Positioned on the footing of the basement, it was securely concreted in place following rigorous flood testing to ensure optimal water flow towards the sump pump.
TrenchDrain
TrenchDrain, a surface drainage component of the WaterGuard system, was employed to effectively channel water around immovable utilities, as depicted in the accompanying photo. These systems are designed to integrate seamlessly, ensuring a unified pathway for water to flow efficiently towards the sump pump.
WaterGuard Connected to TripleSafe Sump Pump
Water collected by the WaterGuard system is directed into the liner of the TripleSafe Sump Pump. Upon entry, a sequence of three pumps is activated as needed to efficiently expel water from the home.
TripleSafe Sump Pump
The TripleSafe Sump Pump system features a primary pump, a secondary pump, and a battery-operated backup pump. This robust design guarantees the efficient removal of high volumes of water under all conditions, including during power outages.
Discharge Line
Water is pumped out of the home through a discharge line.
IceGuard
As the discharge line exits the home, IceGuard is installed to serve as a failsafe mechanism. This system is designed to prevent clogs, particularly those caused by water freezing within the discharge line during cold temperatures. By doing so, IceGuard provides an additional layer of protection against basement flooding.
Bubbler Pot
A bubbler pot was installed at the terminus of the discharge line to facilitate efficient water drainage into the soil. This prevents surface water pooling and avoids soggy lawn conditions. The discharge line is subsequently buried, maintaining the home's curb appeal.
SaniDry XP Dehumidifier
To complete the setup, the SaniDry XP Dehumidifier was installed to effectively control basement humidity, ensuring a healthy and dry environment. This is crucial for a finished basement, as it prevents moisture buildup and mold growth. The collected moisture is autonomously drained directly into the TripleSafe Sump Pump, streamlining the dehumidification process.
