Flooded Basement Water Damage
Approximately three feet of water infiltrated the basement due to elevated tidal activity in the coastal area, which caused a significant rise in the local water table. This intrusion resulted in damage to stored items and created conditions conducive to mold growth, posing potential health and structural risks.
WaterGuard Perimeter Basement Drainage System
A WaterGuard drainage system was installed along the interior perimeter of the basement to proactively manage water intrusion. This engineered solution intercepts groundwater before it can enter the living space, channeling it efficiently toward the sump pump system via a downward flow path. Following a successful flood test to ensure proper functionality, the system was permanently secured with concrete to maintain long-term performance.
TrenchDrain Basement Surface Drainage System
A TrenchDrain system was strategically installed to capture surface water in areas where the WaterGuard system could not be implemented, specifically in front of the basement doorway. This surface-level drainage solution integrates seamlessly with the WaterGuard system, forming a unified channel that directs water efficiently toward the sump pump. The combined system enhances overall water management and protects vulnerable entry points from moisture intrusion.
TripleSafe Sump Pump System
The TripleSafe Sump Pump system features a three-pump configuration designed to provide comprehensive protection against basement water intrusion. It includes a primary pump for standard operation, a secondary pump for high-volume scenarios, and a battery-powered backup pump to ensure continued functionality during power outages. This layered approach delivers continuous and reliable water management under a wide range of conditions, significantly reducing the risk of flooding.
IceGuard
Water is discharged from the basement through a dedicated outlet line, which was precision-cored through the home's block foundation to ensure structural integrity. As the discharge line exits the building envelope, an IceGuardĀ® anti-freeze device was installed to serve as a failsafe against line blockage due to freezing temperatures. This safeguard ensures uninterrupted water evacuation during winter conditions, further reinforcing the reliability of the waterproofing system and mitigating the risk of basement flooding or backup.
Bubbler Pot
A bubbler pot was installed at the termination point of the discharge line to promote efficient dispersion of water into the surrounding soil, minimizing surface pooling and preventing oversaturation of the lawn. To maintain the property's aesthetic appeal and protect the line from external damage, the discharge pipe was buried below grade, ensuring both functionality and visual discretion.
