Failing Sump Pump System
The previously installed sump pump system lacked the capacity and design necessary to effectively intercept and discharge incoming water before it reached the interior of the basement. As a result, the space remained vulnerable to water intrusion, leading to recurring leaks and an increased risk of flooding.
Fieldstone Foundation Wall Water Seepage
Moisture infiltration through the fieldstone foundation walls introduced elevated humidity levels into the basement environment. Persistent damp conditions create an ideal setting for mold growth, wood decay, and potential structural compromise, posing risks to both indoor air quality and the long-term integrity of the home.
Vapor Barrier and Perimeter Drainage System
To address seepage through the fieldstone foundation walls, our crew installed the CleanSpace vapor barrier system. This durable liner captures wall moisture and channels it directly into the WaterGuard interior drainage system, which is installed along the basement's perimeter just above the footing. WaterGuard is engineered to intercept groundwater before it enters the basement living space and direct it efficiently to the sump pump system for removal. Following installation, a flood test was conducted to confirm system performance, and the drainage components were permanently sealed into the foundation with concrete for a clean, integrated finish.
Surface Drainage System
In areas where WaterGuard installation is not feasible-such as around structural support column footings-TrenchDrain is utilized to maintain effective water management. This surface-level drainage solution is designed to reroute water around obstructions while preserving a continuous flow path. TrenchDrain integrates seamlessly with the WaterGuard system, ensuring that all collected water is directed efficiently to the sump pump for removal, without compromising the integrity or performance of the overall waterproofing system.
TripleSafe Sump Pump System
The TripleSafe Sump Pump System is a high-performance, multi-pump solution engineered to provide maximum protection against basement flooding. It features a three-pump configuration: a primary pump for standard water removal, a secondary pump for high-volume situations such as heavy rainfall or rapid snowmelt, and a battery-powered backup pump that ensures continuous operation during power outages. This layered approach delivers reliable, 24/7 protection and peace of mind for homeowners, even under extreme conditions.
Discharge Water from Crawl Space
Water is discharged from the home through a dedicated exterior drainage line, designed to direct flow away from the foundation. To safeguard against potential freezing or blockages, an IceGuardĀ® anti-freeze fitting is installed on the discharge line, providing a fail-safe outlet for water to escape even if the line becomes obstructed. The discharge line is strategically placed in a downward-sloping area to promote natural drainage and prevent water from re-entering the home. At the termination point, a bubbler pot is installed to disperse water efficiently into the surrounding soil, minimizing surface pooling and protecting landscaping. Once installed, the discharge line is fully buried for a clean, unobtrusive finish.
