Wet Finished Basement
As shown in the photo, groundwater infiltrated through the basement slab, compromising the finished flooring, which required removal. If left unresolved, this condition could lead to microbial growth such as mold, structural deterioration, and the development of an unhealthy living environment.
WaterGuard Basement Drainage System
The lower section of drywall and a portion of the concrete slab were removed to allow for the installation of the WaterGuard® perimeter drainage system. Positioned along the footing, WaterGuard® intercepts groundwater at its entry point before it reaches the basement interior. Collected water is directed to the sump pump for efficient discharge from the home. Once installed, the system is permanently sealed with concrete to grade, creating a discreet and seamless finish. When new flooring is installed, the drainage system will remain virtually undetectable.
TrendDrain Surface Drainage System
In areas where utilities could not be relocated, TrenchDrain® was installed to redirect water around these obstacles while simultaneously capturing surface runoff. This integration ensures uninterrupted water collection and efficient channeling to the drainage system without compromising the basement's functionality or layout.
Drainage System Feed Line
A dedicated feed line was installed to optimize water conveyance to the sump pump system. Given the extensive surface area involved, this configuration accelerates water delivery to the sump basin, ensuring efficient collection and discharge.
TripleSafe Sump Pump System
The TripleSafe Sump Pump system was selected as the ideal solution for this basement, given its exposure to a high water table. This system incorporates three pumps for layered protection: the primary pump manages routine water removal, while the secondary pump automatically engages during periods of elevated water intrusion, such as heavy rainfall or snowmelt. In addition, a battery-powered backup pump provides fail-safe operation in the event of a power outage or primary pump failure, ensuring uninterrupted groundwater management and maximum reliability.
Efficient Water Removal From Home
Water is discharged from the home through a dedicated line. An IceGuard® fitting is integrated into the discharge line to provide an alternate exit point in the event of a freeze, preventing water from backing up into the sump basin and flooding the basement. At the termination point, a bubbler pot disperses water efficiently into the surrounding soil, minimizing surface pooling and lawn saturation. The discharge line is then buried to maintain both functionality and landscape aesthetics.
Joint and Crack Sealant
To enhance protection against groundwater intrusion through the basement slab, we applied NexusPro, a high-performance crack and joint sealant, to all identified cracks and control joints. This creates a durable, water-resistant barrier that helps maintain structural integrity and prevent moisture-related issues.
