Wet Finished Basement
Persistent water intrusion through cold joints during rainstorms caused repeated basement flooding, resulting in significant damage such as ruined carpeting, compromised flooring, and stored belongings at risk. Frequent use of a shop vac was required to remove standing water, highlighting the severity of the issue.
Basement Perimeter Drainage System
The perimeter flooring and concrete were removed to allow installation of the WaterGuard® drainage system. Positioned atop the foundation footing, WaterGuard® intercepts water at its entry point before it reaches the basement floor. The system was embedded in a bed of clean, crushed stone to ensure optimal drainage and direct water efficiently to the sump pump for removal.
Drainage System Connected to Sump Pump System
The WaterGuard® drainage system was seamlessly integrated with the sump pump basin using PVC connections, ensuring efficient water collection and discharge. This design provides a continuous path for water management, directing all captured moisture to the sump pump for removal.
Drainage System Concreted into Foundation
After performing a flood test to verify optimal drainage performance, the WaterGuard® system and sump pump were permanently encased in concrete along the foundation perimeter. This provides a clean, discreet finish while ensuring long-term functionality and structural integration.
SuperSump Sump Pump
The SuperSump® sump pump system activates automatically as water enters the basin, efficiently removing it from the basement. Unlike standard systems, SuperSump® features an airtight liner that prevents debris infiltration and minimizes humidity. It is also equipped with a WaterWatch® Alarm, which alerts homeowners if water levels rise within the liner, providing an added layer of protection.
Discharge Line Freeze Prevention
Water is discharged from the basement through a dedicated line. At the exterior connection, an IceGuard® system is installed as a failsafe, allowing water to escape if the discharge line becomes frozen or obstructed. This added protection prevents sump pump backup and mitigates the risk of basement leaks during adverse conditions.
Bubbler Pot
A bubbler pot was installed at the discharge line's termination point to facilitate efficient water dispersion into the surrounding soil, preventing surface pooling. The discharge line was then buried below grade to maintain proper drainage while preserving the lawn's appearance and integrity.
