Finished Basement Damage
The finished basement required complete dismantling due to extensive water damage. Despite having an exterior French drain in place, water continued to penetrate the foundation. Before rebuilding the basement, the homeowners sought a long-term, reliable waterproofing solution and implemented the following measures.
Basement Wall Seepage Channeled to Drainage System
CleanSpace® was installed along the foundation walls to capture any water seepage and direct it into the perimeter drainage system. To accommodate the installation of WaterGuard®, sections of the concrete floor were carefully removed. WaterGuard® is positioned above the foundation footing, allowing it to intercept water before it reaches the basement interior. The collected water is then channeled to the sump pump, where it is efficiently discharged from the home.
Basement Surface Drainage
In the unfinished section of the basement, a TrenchDrain® system was installed to effectively redirect water around stationary utilities. This system integrates seamlessly with WaterGuard®, creating a unified drainage path that channels water directly to the sump pump for removal. Once proper functionality was confirmed, the drainage components were permanently secured by re-pouring concrete over the installation, ensuring a clean and durable finish.
TripleSafe Sump Pump System
The TripleSafe® Sump Pump System is engineered for maximum protection with three levels of defense. The primary pump handles everyday water removal, while a secondary, high-capacity pump activates during periods of heavy water intrusion, such as severe storms. For added security, a third battery-powered backup pump engages if the sump liner fills during a power outage or in the event of primary pump failure. This triple-pump configuration ensures continuous operation and keeps the basement dry under all conditions.
Discharge Line
Water is discharged from the home through a dedicated line that slopes downward to direct flow away from the foundation. At the termination point, a bubbler pot is installed to disperse water efficiently into the surrounding soil, preventing surface pooling and reducing the risk of erosion near the home.
Basement Water Removal Failsafe
IceGuard® is installed on the discharge line to provide a fail-safe in the event of a frozen or blocked line. This feature allows water to escape safely outside the basement, preventing backups that could cause the sump liner to overflow. After installation, the discharge line is buried to maintain system functionality while preserving the lawn's clean, finished appearance.
Basement Flooring
Elite Plank Flooring was installed to provide a durable and stylish finish for the basement floor. This wood-look flooring is crafted from inorganic materials, making it completely resistant to water and mold. By combining aesthetic appeal with superior protection, this solution ensures the basement remains safe from any moisture issues and delivers long-lasting peace of mind when the space is fully refinished.
