Finished Basement Damage
As shown in the photo, the finished flooring and lower section of drywall were removed due to water intrusion. Without a proper waterproofing system in place prior to finishing a basement, these types of costly damages are common. If left unresolved, moisture can lead to mold growth, wood rot, and persistent musty odors, ultimately compromising the structural integrity and livability of the space.
Basement Drainage System
WaterGuard was installed along the interior perimeter of the basement to capture and redirect groundwater intrusion before it reaches the living space. This system is strategically positioned above the footing to avoid structural compromise and channels collected water directly to the sump pump for efficient removal, ensuring a dry and protected environment.
Stud Restoration
After performing a flood test to verify proper water flow and system functionality, the WaterGuard drainage channel was permanently secured in place with concrete. Following this, the wall studs were repaired to restore structural support for the finished wall to be installed later in the project. Additionally, SilverGlo insulation panels were installed along the lower section beneath the spray foam to enhance thermal efficiency and maintain a properly insulated basement environment.
Surface Drainage System
A TrenchDrain surface drainage system was installed at the bulkhead entrance and around fixed basement utilities to capture water at the foundation surface. This solution is specifically designed for areas where WaterGuard cannot be installed, effectively intercepting surface water and directing it into the integrated drainage network. Both systems connect seamlessly, creating a unified and efficient pathway that channels water to the sump pump for removal.
TripleSafe Sump Pump System
The TripleSafe Sump Pump System is engineered with three levels of protection: a primary pump for standard water removal, a secondary pump that activates during high-volume events such as heavy storms or rapid snowmelt, and a battery-powered backup pump that ensures operation during power outages or primary pump failure. This tiered design provides maximum reliability and peace of mind, even under extreme conditions.
Discharge Line Freeze Prevention
Water is discharged from the home through a dedicated outlet line. To safeguard against potential blockages or freezing within this line, an IceGuard® fail-safe was installed. This component allows water to bypass the obstruction and exit safely outside, preventing backups that could cause the sump basin to overflow. By ensuring continuous discharge under adverse conditions, IceGuard® provides an added layer of protection to keep the basement dry.
Bubbler Pot
The discharge line was extended to a properly graded area away from the home to prevent water from re-entering the basement. At the termination point, a bubbler pot was installed to facilitate efficient drainage into the soil, minimizing surface pooling and protecting the landscape. Finally, the discharge line was buried to ensure durability and maintain a clean, unobtrusive appearance.
Basement Finishing
With the basement fully waterproofed, we restored the finished space by installing Elite Plank Flooring and EverLast Half Wall panels. Both products are constructed from inorganic, water-resistant, and mold-resistant materials, providing long-term durability and peace of mind while maintaining a clean, stylish aesthetic.
