The owner of a machine shop in Kingston, NH was concerned with the large cracks which had formed throughout his work space. The large garage area housed several pieces of heavy machinery, as well as vehicles and motorcycles throughout the year. While moving the heavy vehicles and machines around the shop, he noticed there was an echoing sound, a void type sound, coming from beneath the garage slab. Fearing the concrete floor would crack further and cause damage to his property, he reached out to our Erickson Foundation Solutions team to see if there was something he could do to fix the problem.
Our specialist, Anthony Brancato, showed the owner how PolyLevel would be the ideal solution, as it would not require any demolition of concrete or cause any disruption to his business. The repair process would fill the voids with a polymer foam material, which upon installation rapidly expands and reaches all sections of the cavity it enters. All this is completed through tiny port holes in the slab surface.
On the scheduled day of installation, our production team arrived and discussed once more the goals of the owner, ensuring they were completing the work and getting the results he truly wanted. The process began with laying out a pattern for drilling the port holes, ensuring all the voids beneath the concrete floor were addressed. They then injected the PolyLevel foam and successfully achieved the results they wanted, filling each void beneath the large slab, providing it with proper stability once again.
The owner walked through the garage space jumping and banging the floor in the various points of concern he had, and found the echo sound was no longer present. He was very pleased with the results, and had peace of mind his shop and property were no longer at risk.
