This homeowner in Nashua, New Hampshire, had purchased this home in May 2023. Their son has a room in the basement and spends a lot of time down there. The homeowners did some research on the effect of being exposed to radon for a long period of time. After learning about the potential hazards of radon the homeowner called EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Josh met with the homeowner and dropped off a radon test kit. The results came back with an average of 11.4 pCi/L and Josh recommended installing a radon mitigation system and dehumidifier into the basement to lower the moisture and radon levels inside the basement.
A homeowner in Nashua, New Hampshire, purchased their home a couple of years ago and has recently become worried about the radon levels inside their home. A homeowner in Nashua, NH, with a mostly finished basement and a one-year-old child, discovered radon gas levels exceeding 5 pCi/L, surpassing the EPA’s hazard threshold of 4 pCi/L. Initially, no action was taken. After learning about the dangers of radon gas, the homeowner became concerned for their family’s safety and contacted Erickson Foundation Solutions to install a radon mitigation system.
We began the project by creating an extraction point through the foundation, allowing a PVC pipe to funnel radon gas. Next, we installed a radon fan on the exterior of the home to actively draw radon from the soil beneath the foundation. Additional PVC piping was then extended from the radon fan to surpass the roofline, safely expelling radon gas away from any entry points of the home. Lastly, we sealed all foundation cracks to further prevent radon from seeping into the basement.
Following the installation, the homeowner can now rest assured that their home is protected from radon gas.
