Sonia D. of Bedford, New Hampshire has a house that sits on very wet soil. This has caused two major floods and constant leaking. As a result, Sonia's last two furnaces have been ruined. She would love to finish the basement but cannot commit to doing so with all the water that makes its way through the foundation. Eager to find a way to keep her basement dry, she reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions.
Our Design Specialist, Debra Rayborn, conducted a free home inspection. After assessing the problem, Debra offered different waterproofing options to Sonia to see what best met her needs. Ultimately, Debra recommended installing two TripleSafe sump pumps in different areas of the basement. The TripleSafe sump pump has three pumps. Two Zoeller pumps, one is set at 1/3 horsepower for normal functioning, while the other is set to 1/2 horsepower for excessive water. The third pump is battery backup powered and will pump 11,500 gallons or more water out of the home. Our installation crew chipped out concrete in the foundation to create basins for the two sump pumps. After the pumps were laid in the basin, they were cemented into place. The pumps connected to a drainage line that directed the water out of the home towards a safe location that would not affect the home.
Despite being surrounded by so much wet soil; Sonia can now enjoy a dry basement.
The owner of a home in Bedford, Massachusetts, has been living there for a year. The house was constructed in 1958, and upon moving in, the owner noticed water seeping into the basement during heavy rainfall. After a year of living there, they found a new place that suited them better. To make their current home more attractive, they decided to do some cosmetic and practical upgrades. One of these was to prevent water from entering the basement during heavy rainfall. The homeowner contacted EFS for a free inspection to address the issue. Our Design Specialist, Tom Armano, met with them and examined the entire basement to identify a solution to keep water from entering the home. Tom suggested installing a TripleSafe in the basement to catch any water that attempted to infiltrate the area.
Our installation team, headed by Branden Edwards, began by chiseling out concrete to dig beneath the slab and install the TripleSafe basin. When the basin was level with the slab, we put our sump pumps in the basin. Once the pumps were in place, we connected them to our IceGuard and Exterior Drainage Line, which led to the exterior of the home. The IceGuard would help in case the drainage line became clogged or frozen, preventing the system from backing up into the basement. The drainage line would carry the water pumped out of the basement away from the home's foundation, preventing it from returning to the basement. After the system was installed and connected, the team mixed concrete and poured it around the base of the sump pump to secure it in place. The homeowner was delighted with the project's outcome and felt more at ease about selling their home.
