A homeowner in Billerica, Massachusetts purchased their split-level home 27 years ago. In 2007, they built a sizable addition on the back of their home. For about 15 years, they had no issues with the addition, but they noticed two to three years ago that the doors and windows inside the addition were becoming tight and hard to open. After researching the potential causes, the homeowner suspected that their foundation might be the problem. They contacted EFS to request a free foundation inspection, and our Design Specialist, Jason Vachon, met with them to examine the foundation. 

Jason inspected the foundation wall, windows, doors, and other features inside the addition to determine the problem and find a solution. He concluded that the issue was around 2" of settlement at the rear of the addition, which caused the doors and windows to become tight. Jason recommended using Push Piers and PolyLevel to lift and stabilize the foundation. 

Our installation team began by exposing the foundation footing and installing 14 Push Piers around the three walls of the structure. Once the piers were in place, our hydraulic press pushed them to the proper pressure, and we tamped and backfilled the dirt over the piers. Next, the team drilled tiny injection portholes in the slab so they could inject PolyLevel below the slab. They injected PolyLevel into each porthole to fill any voids below the slab. Once all the voids were filled, the team plugged all the portholes with concrete. 

The team then cleaned up and took the homeowners on a final walkthrough to show them everything that was installed. The crew answered any questions the homeowners had before leaving.

A homeowner in Billerica, Massachusetts, had lived in their home for almost 20 years and this year they started to notice some cracks in their foundation wall. Recently they installed a new oil tank and started to notice cracking after the tank was installed. Their home was built in the 1950s and this is the first issue they have seen with the foundation. To address their concerns they decided to call EFS for a free inspection, our design specialist found the cracks in their foundation wall were forming because of pressure from the exterior of the home. Our design specialist recommended installing PowerBraces against the foundation wall to add support. 

Our production team began by marking the foundation wall where each PowerBrace will be installed. After marking where each PowerBrace will go the team then had to determine which top bracket they will use for each one. The team determined they were going to use 4 top bridge brackets and 1 top lever bracket. Now the team was able to start installing the L brackets a couple of inches away from the base of the foundation wall. Once the L brackets were installed, the team then secured the top brackets to the floor joists above. After the brackets were installed the team placed the PowerBrace in between the L bracket and the wall and connected the top of the PB to the top bracket. Once secured the team tightened the top bracket to support the wall and prevent further cracking. 

The homeowner was happy with the results of the PowerBrace installation. 

A homeowner in Billerica, Massachusetts, has children that live in their home. The children liked using the basement to play in but haven't in a while due to radon concerns. The homeowners had the basement tested for radon and the levels came back at 6.0-6.4 pCi/L. The homeowner would like to get the radon levels down below 4.0 pCi/L. Our design specialist recommended installing a radon mitigation system.

Our production team installed a radon mitigation system into the home. The team started chipping an extraction point through the slab in the rear right of the home. The team made a run of PVC from the extraction point and connected it to the fan that is installed on the exterior of the home. The radon pipe is vented over the roofline of the home to ensure no radon can re-enter the home from the outside. 

This homeowner in Billerica, Massachusetts has lived in their home for 10 years. They have had an issue where their basement will flood when they lose power. This problem has been occurring since they moved into their home. They replaced the sump pump in their basement 2 years ago and the issue still happens. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection. 

Design Specialist Stephen Caron inspected the basement. Stephen first checked to see if anything was wrong with the sump pump. He found that the sump pump works but doesn't have a battery backup. Stephen found that the rest of the basement is outfitted with some drainage. Stephen recommended installing a Triple Safe, Ice Guard, WaterGuard, and a SaniDry.

This homeowner in Billerica, Massachusetts had noticed that the floors in their addition were starting to sag. They have recently noticed some cracking in doorways and windows. They decided to call EFS for a free inspection. 

Design Specialist Justin Wenner inspected the home. Justin found that the floors aren't sagging but slopping. The floors are sloping because the addition in the back of their home is sinking. Justin did some measuring around the foundation and found that one corner of the addition is sinking about 3". With the house sinking, the cracking in the doorways, windows, and the floors slopping confirms that the home is actively settling. Justin recommended installing 8 Push Piers to the addition of the home to ensure that the addition doesn't start pulling on the main section of the home. 

Crew Lead Chris Tremblay and his team installed 8 Push Piers on the corner of the addition to permanently stabilize it.  

This homeowner in Billerica, Massachusetts had a neighbor that had a radon fan installed in their home recently. The homeowners were curious about the radon levels in their home. They decided to call EFS for a CRM test and Inspection for their home. 

Design Specialist Kenny Calabrese dropped off a CRM test a couple of days before his appointment with the homeowners. The CRM test takes 24 hours to conduct a full test. Kenny inspected the home on the day of the appointment and found a couple of cracks in the walls and floors that radon gas was most likely seeping through. Kenny recommended installing a radon mitigation system with two extraction points to reduce the radon levels in the home. 

Crew Lead Dillon Kingsbury and his team arrived at the home and installed the radon mitigation system into the home. 

Paul E. of Billerica, Massachusetts was experiencing cracking and settling around his pool. He hasn't been using the pool very much because it needs work. He thought now would be a good time as any to try and repair the settling first than fixing the issues within the pool. Paul doesn't want the settling of the pool deck to get worse and cause more problems. Paul called Erickson Foundation Solutions about coming to his home and inspecting the settlement around his pool deck.

Design Specialist Kenny Calabrese, came to the home to inspect the concrete pool deck. He found and confirmed what Paul had already known. Kenny proposed a solution to Paul's concrete settlement issue. He proposed using PolyLEVEL to fill the voids and relevel the concrete surrounding the pool. 

Crew Lead Nick Melo and his team came to the home and injected PolyLEVEL under the Pool Deck and releveled the entire patio while solving the settlement issue at the same time.
