One of our Design Specialists, Josh Phillips, went to the house to conduct a free home inspection. While completing the inspection, Josh noticed that the existing encapsulation system in the crawl space was not keeping moisture out as it was intended. This was the source of why the homeowner's bedroom was damp and musty. Mold, wood rot, and other negative effects also resulted because of it. The wood rot has caused cracks in the wall and doors to not shut properly. Josh recommended installing our SuperSump sump pump, CleanSpace vapor barrier, and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The SuperSump sits in a basin in the crawl space and pumps out water that is surrounding the outside of the foundation. The CleanSpace vapor barrier properly encapsulates the crawl space to keep out moisture, which protects against mold, wood rot, and pests. The SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier further helps prevent against moisture, creating a dry space and delivering better air quality to the entire home.

Our Design Specialist, Josh Phillips, recommended installing SilverGlo wall insulation, CleanSpace vapor barrier, and SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The SilverGlo was installed to the crawl space to provide R-11 insulation. CleanSpace was installed to prevent moisture in the crawl space. By eliminating moisture from the crawl space, the threat of high humidity, wood rot, and insects vanishes. Lastly, the SaniDry Sedona was installed in the basement to create a comfortable living space. Mold spores and other toxins are removed, creating a dry and healthy environment.

This crawl space was plagued by multiple issues that limited its usefulness and threatened the home's structural stability. Six PowerBrace™ systems were installed to permanently stabilize the bowing foundation wall, while new reinforced concrete footings and SmartJack® supports replaced the failing lally columns. To control groundwater, our team installed a StarPipe™ drainage system and SmartDrain™, then encapsulated the space with drainage matting, TerraBlock™ insulation, and a CleanSpace® vapor barrier. A SaniDry XP® dehumidifier completed the system, helping maintain optimal humidity levels and creating a healthier environment suitable for long-term storage.
