A home in Newmarket, New Hampshire, had recently been purchased. Before the new homeowner moved in they found a slope on the main level of their home. They have a plan in the future to finish the area on the main floor but needed to make sure the floors could handle it. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection of the floor system in their crawlspace. Our Design Specialist found that each beam in the floor sloped approximately an inch. They recommended replacing the wooden supports in the crawlspace with SmartJacks.
Our production team planned to install 11 SmartJacks in the crawlspace. We started by setting up temporary support so we could remove the old wooden supports. After the wood supports were removed and the temps were installed the team began creating level footings for our SmartJacks to rest on. The team dug a hole that was 24"x 24"x 24" and then filled the hole with engineered fill, rebar, and concrete. Once cured the team installed our SmartJacks over the footing and connected it to the beam above. They repeated this process 10 more times until they were all installed. Once installed the team can use the adjustable top to lift on the floor above to lift and level it. After everything was installed and set in place the team then cast concrete over the footings.
The homeowner was pleased with the installation of the SmartJacks. They now felt confident in the floors so they could install the upgrades they planned on doing.
Amy B. of Newmarket, New Hampshire was concerned about radon in their semi-finished basement. Amy called EFS to see if they could help with her radon concerns. EFS Design Specialist Michael Bradley came out and inspected the home. Michael tested the basement for radon with one of our radon test kits and found that the radon levels were slightly above average. Michael proposed that Amy have a radon system installed in her basement to mitigate some of the radon.
Crew Lead Branden Edwards and his team came and installed a custom radon mitigation system into the home.
When the project finished Amy was relieved that the radon levels were now lower than ever before.
