Radon Gas Mitigation Systems

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as tobacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Our radon mitigation system is completely compatible with the current waterproofing system in your home. Get in contact with us now to learn how to protect your loved ones from the harmful effects of radon gas.

Basement Waterproofing in Melrose, MA

One chilly morning in Melrose, MA, a homeowner discovered an unwelcome stream of water seeping into their basement through the bulkhead. Determined to nip the problem in the bud before it wreaked any more havoc, they reached out to us at Erickson Foundation Solutions. They wanted a solution, and they wanted it fast. We were ready to rise to the challenge.

After the homeowner got in touch with our friendly Customer Care team, we promptly scheduled a thorough home inspection. Our System Design Specialist Kenneth Calabrese visited the home, analyzed the situation, and chalked out a plan tailored to stop the water intrusion in its tracks. We proposed the installation of our high-quality WaterGuard, UltraSump System, and IceGuard products. The WaterGuard system was designed to efficiently capture wall and floor joint leaks, directing the water to the state-of-the-art UltraSump System. The UltraSump System, powerful yet discreet, would then pump the collected water outside, away from the home. To battle the freezing Melrose winters, we recommended adding the IceGuard system, ensuring that frozen discharge lines wouldn't cause a backup. The homeowner was on board with our proposal, trusting our reputation for providing exceptional customer experiences and lasting solutions. Our expert team of installers took to the task with zeal. With precision, they installed the WaterGuard along the affected perimeter, set up the UltraSump to get rid of the intruding water, and placed the IceGuard for an added layer of protection against freezing.

By the time our team packed up, the basement was watertight, prepped to handle whatever Mother Nature had in store – a cause of relief for the homeowner, who now enjoyed peace of mind knowing their basement woes were behind them.

Crawl Space Repair in Melrose, MA

Recently, a homeowner in Melrose, MA, reached out to us at Erickson Foundation Solutions about an ongoing issue in their house. They were concerned about a persistent musty smell permeating their living space, which they traced back to their crawl space. It turns out, a nasty combination of bad mold and wet insulation was at the heart of their worries. Understandably, the homeowner wanted not just a quick fix, but a long-lasting solution to ensure the health and safety of their home environment.

After our Customer Care team set up an appointment, one of our highly trained System Design Specialists, Kenneth Calabrese paid a visit to the home for a thorough inspection. The diagnosis was clear: the crawl space needed some serious attention. We recommended the installation of CleanSpace, a cutting-edge solution designed to tackle such issues head-on. Our production crew, armed with our CleanSpace technology, went to work in the crawl space. CleanSpace encapsulation is a durable, bright white liner that not only seals off the home from earth moisture and humidity but also drastically reduces the potential for mold growth and improves the overall air quality in the home. The process involved removing the wet insulation, cleaning up the mold, and installing the CleanSpace system to create a dry, mold-free environment beneath the home.

The outcome was nothing short of transformative. The homeowner immediately noticed the absence of the musty smell, replaced by fresher, cleaner air throughout their living spaces. This intervention didn’t just resolve the immediate concerns of mold and moisture but also contributed to the home’s long-term health, energy efficiency, and comfort. Our team, true to Erickson Foundation Solutions' mission, left behind a happier homeowner and a crawl space that was clean, dry, and finally contributing to the overall wellbeing of the home.

Wet Basement Finished Floors in Melrose, MA

Joe D. of Melrose, Massachusetts had his finished basement ruined when a flood caused damage to the floor and utility room. Water entered the basement through the foundation wall and floor, creating puddling underneath the finished floors. Looking to waterproof the finished basement, Joe reached out to Erickson Foundation Solutions.

The waterproofing system our Design Specialist, George Gouthier, recommended included WaterGuard perimeter drainage, TrenchDrain surface drainage, and our TripleSafe sump pump system. Our installation crew, led by Ryan Champagne, started the project by demoing drywall in the basement to access the foundation wall. Concrete was then chipped out along the edge of the basement to allow space for WaterGuard to be installed. This system captures water before being exposed to the inside basement. It was set in stone to allow proper drainage to the sump basin. TrenchDrain was installed to reroute water around the utilities since WaterGuard could not be installed in that location. These two systems connect to deliver water to the sump basin. When digging out the sump basin, two granite boulders were revealed. The crew was able to adapt and install the sump pump system into the basin. The TripleSafe's three-pump system ensures that water always gets properly pumped out of the home. A discharge line was plumbed from the TripleSafe to the side yard, and then buried in the ground. In this plumbing system, IceGuard was installed. IceGuard is a mechanism that prevents frozen pipes, ensuring water doesn't back up and cause flooding.

With the system tested and the workspace clean, Ryan performed a final walkthrough with Joe. After the systems installed were presented and remaining questions were answered, Joe was thrilled knowing that his basement was safe from water. He can now have peace of mind that the living space will stay dry all the time.

Bowing and Settling Foundation, Melrose, MA

This homeowner in Melrose, Massachusetts, had a large crack in their basement that they wanted looked at by a professional. The crack spanned from top to bottom of the foundation wall and looked like the wall was leaning away from the home. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection and our Design Specialist/ Project Manager Nate Erickson met with the homeowner to diagnose the problem with the foundation. During Nate's inspection, he found that the foundation had settled 2" and Nate knows this had caused the crack in the foundation wall. His recommendation was to install GeoLocks and Push Piers to the foundation to stabilize it, as well as install PolyLevel and Injection Crack Sealant under the slab and into the cracks in the basement to fill the void under the slab and cracks in the foundation wall.

Our Installation Team led by Neal Foley began by installing our 4 Geolocks to the section of the wall with the large crack. The team created a trench in the garage which will hold one end of the system. The team then sent a rod through the foundation wall and into the trench and installed a plate onto both ends of the rod. The team then tightened the plates on the rod to stabilize the wall. Next, the team began installing the 17 Push Piers onto the foundation. The team had to expose the foundation footing to install the piers so we dug down to the footing and installed all 17 piers to the footing and used a hydraulic press to send the piers down until they reached sufficient pressure. After the then began in injection PolyLevel under the slab of the home to fill any void. After the void was filled the team injected each of the cracks in the foundation wall to seal them.

When the almost two and half week job was complete the homeowner was very impressed by the results.
