Water Collects in Basement After Heavy Rain, Maynard, MA

A homeowner in Maynard, Massachusetts, was having water entering the basement after heavy rain. The home was built in 1903 and the current homeowners have lived in there for the past six years. The homeowner used the basement as a laundry room and storage and wanted to stop water from collecting on the basement floors. Our design specialist Tom examined the home and recommended installing a full perimeter drainage system.

Our production team led by Melvin began the project by having all of the homeowner's belongings removed from the perimeter of the basement. After the homeowner removed their things, the team started chipping out a trench at the bottom of the foundation wall. They chipped around the entire perimeter using a jackhammer. Our team cleared out the debris from the trench and installed 130 feet of WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement. Any water that comes down the wall or from the outside of the home will be contained in the WaterGuard System. The next item to be installed will be the sump pumps. The sump pumps that were installed are the SuperSumps, and they were placed at the front left corner and back right corner of the basement. To install the sumps, the team had to dig a trench that will fit the sump pump basin. To power the pump, the team needed to make sure there was an electrical outlet near the sump pump. After power was found and the basins were dug, the team used PVC piping to expel the water out of the home. Finally, the team installed a SaniDry to reduce the moisture in the basement. The team stopped water from entering and collecting on the basement floor, so the homeowner can still store their belongings and continue to do laundry in the basement.
