Egress Window Well Installation, Amesbury, MA Egress Window Well Installation, Amesbury, MA

This early 1900's home in Amesbury, MA had three egress windows along one side of the house. During heavy rains, the shallow, old window wells would collect the water, eventually leading to leaking through the windows down into the basement. The owners reached out to our Erickson team to replace the window wells with an upgraded system, as well as install covers to help prevent rain from directly falling into the well space.

Our production specialists installed all three window well replacements and covers in a single day, and patched the owners asphalt driveway surrounding the wells. They took care to cleanly cutaway the existing asphalt material so that later their patching around the well would be clean and easy. Not only will the upgraded egress window system help keep water from leaking into the basement, but they look great from the outside of the home as well.

Radon Gas Mitigation Systems

Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and as cancer-causing as to//bacco and asbestos. Radon gas is produced from the decaying of rocks and soil and comes up from the ground into your crawlspace and basements. The way our radon mitigation systems works in a pipe collects the gases that are coming from the soil. The gas is then piped upwards where a depressurization vent forces the radon out from your home. Our radon mitigation system is completely compatible with the current waterproofing system in your home. Get in contact with us now to learn how to protect your loved ones from the harmful effects of radon gas.

Job Stories From Amesbury, MA
Leaky Basement Solution, Amesbury, MA

Brian K. is a homeowner from Amesbury, Massachusetts who had concerns about his basement leaking. He had noticed the problem ever since moving into the home, but now water makes it through the foundation every time it rains. Brian was tired of worrying about the utilities getting damaged and wants to protect the space that he uses for storage. He came to us to look for a permanent solution to his wet basement problems.

The major components of the waterproofing system we recommended include our TripleSafe sump pump and WaterGuard perimeter drainage. The perimeter drainage system captures water at along the border of the foundation and directs it to the sump pump, all while never entering the basement. The sump pump then pumps the water out of the home through an exterior drainage line. The drainage line deposits the water in a safe area away from the home. IceGuard was also added to the EDL (exterior drainage line) to prevent freezing pipes. Our installation crew efficiently installed the waterproofing system while making sure to keep the basement clean.

With all of these systems in place, Brian's concerns of a wet basement are a thing of the past. Our team was happy to provide him with a safe and dry basement.

Crawlspace Encapsulation, Amesbury, MA

A homeowner in Amesbury, Massachusetts, purchased their home 2 years ago. Since living in the home they have noticed the crawlspace giving off a musty and damp smell. They also wanted to improve energy efficiency and the health of the home. The homeowner called EFS for a free inspection of their crawlspace. Our Design Specialist Tom Armano met with the homeowner and looked at the crawlspace. After a full inspection of the crawlspace, Tom recommended encapsulating the crawlspace with CleanSpace, Drainage Matting, and PolyLevel Wall Restoration. To address the homeowner's concerns of the musty and damp smell Tom recommended installing a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to control the moisture in the crawlspace.

Our installation team began by removing any debris from the crawlspace that would block them from installing our products. We then rolled out Drainage Matting into the crawlspace and covered the floor with the brown covering. We secured the matting with tape and began covering it with our CleanSpace encapsulation. We used the white encapsulation to cover both the floors and walls to fully separate the crawlspace from the earth. To ensure total coverage we sprayed the rim joists with PolyLevel Wall Restoration to prevent drafts of air from penetrating the crawlspace. After the space was fully encapsulated the team lastly installed our SaniDry Sedona to control the humidity and prevent that nasty musty odor that had built up in the crawlspace.

The homeowners were thrilled with the results of the project. The space is a lot brighter and doesn't have the strong odor that it had before.

Correcting Sloping Floors in 1850s Home, Amesbury, MA

A homeowner in Amesbury, Massachusetts, purchased their home 30 years ago. The home was built in the 1850s and they have always noticed that the floors on the first floor were sloping. The homeowners had steadily done projects around their homes over the years. One of the projects this year was to replace the flooring on the first floor. Before they installed new floors they wanted to have the floors leveled. They researched a few companies and finally decided to reach out to EFS for a free inspection of their home. Our Design Specialist Jared Pavluvcik met with the homeowners and inspected the floor system of the home to determine the best way to eliminate the sloping in the floors so they could install their new flooring. Jared recommended installing 9 SmartJacks in the basement to lift and level the sloping floors on the first floor.

Our Installation team led by Eric Witham began by planning where each SmartJack would be installed. Then the team chipped out small sections of the concrete slab so we could install our big footings. Next, the team fit the footing and then leveled them. After the footings were secured the team then installed the SmartJacks and connected them to the main beam of the floor system. After the supports were secured to the beam the team used the adjustable top to lift and level the floor system. To ensure the floors were level the team used laser and traditional levels. After ensuring everything was level, we mixed up some concrete and began covering the footings of the SmartJacks with concrete to lock everything in place.

Deteriorating Foundation Walls, Amesbury, MA

A homeowner in Amesbury, Massachusetts, who had purchased a late 1800s home six years ago, has been experiencing water seepage through the walls and floors of the basement. This has caused the walls to deteriorate over time. Fed up with this persistent issue, the homeowner contacted EFS for a free basement inspection. Our Design Specialist, Michael LaMalfa, met with the homeowner and conducted a thorough inspection. As a result, Michael recommended the installation of WaterGuard, TripleSafe, CleanSpace, and IceGuard in the basement to prevent any further water damage.

Our Installation Team, led by Branden Edwards, began by chipping a trench around the basement's perimeter to accommodate our perimeter drainage. The team then installed a sump pump in the basement's lowest corner and connected the system to the exterior where we installed our IceGuard and Exterior Drainage Line. To collect any water entering the walls, the team installed CleanSpace and connected it to the perimeter drainage. The water would then be guided to the sump pump and pumped outside through the Exterior Drainage Line. Once the system was tested, the team poured concrete over the perimeter drainage and around the sump pump to secure them in place.

The homeowner was very satisfied and relieved that they no longer have to worry about water entering their basement.

Brick Foundation Settling, Amesbury, MA

A homeowner in Amesbury, Massachusetts, has a brick foundation that holds up their home and they believe that it is settling. The homeowners have seen this issue start to look worse and want to address it before it becomes irreparable. The homeowner decided that they need to have someone look at their foundation so they reached out to EFS for a free inspection. Our Design Specialist Nate Erickson met with the homeowner and inspected the brick foundation. After a thorough inspection, Nate noticed that the brick foundation didn't have footing and that was part of the reason that the wall was settling. Nate recommended installing 3 Helical Piers under the foundation wall and also installing a GradeBeam over the Helical Piers.

Our Installation Team began by going into the basement of the home and installing 3 Helical Piers to the bottom of the brick foundation wall. Once secured to the brick the team then set up forms around the Helical Piers so we could pour a grade beam and lift the foundation wall. The team installed the GradeBeam and once it was cured they used it to help lift the foundation wall back to its original position.

The homeowner was very impressed with the solution that EFS installed in their home. The solution did exactly as Nate described it would.

Bursted Water Main Washed Away Dirt Under Home, Amesbury, MA

A homeowner in Amesbury, Massachusetts, had a water main break in their home which washed away the soil underneath the slab. The water washed away a significant amount of dirt leaving a significant void. The slab has shifted and the homeowner is worried about the slab in the basement. The homeowner decided to call EFS for a free inspection, and our design specialist recommended installing PolyLevel under the slab to fill the void.

Our team began by chipping out a section of concrete in the corner of the basement so they could see how much void they needed to fill. When the team looked under the slab they found that they needed to fill a solid 3-4" of void. Our team used the PolyLevel spray gun to free-spray underneath the slab to fill the void. The team sprayed layers of PolyLevel under the slab until the void was filled

The homeowner was relieved that the Erickson team filled the void under their slab. The homeowner no longer has to worry about the soil washing away from under the slab.

Pool Deck Repair, Amesbury, MA

A homeowner in Amesbury, Massachusetts, had moved into their home about a year ago and wanted to repair the concrete and reduce the cracks/ tripping hazards around the pool. The homeowner would like to have people over and hang out by the pool so they think repairing the pool deck was important. Our design specialist recommended installing PolyLevel and NexusPro around the pool.

Our production team began by drilling portholes around the pool deck. The team used the portholes to inject PolyLevel underneath each concrete slab to lift and level them. After each slab around the pool is lifted and leveled the team started to seal the cracks with NexusPro. NexusPro was injected into each crack and the excess was smoothed away. 43 feet of NexusPro was installed to seal all of the cracks around the pool.

The homeowner was happy that the concrete around the pool deck was lifted leveled and sealed. The homeowner no longer has to worry about any of their friends or family tripping around their pool.

Newly Purchased Home has Leaky Basement, Amesbury, MA

This homeowner in Amesbury, Massachusetts recently purchased their new home. Shortly after buying the house, the new homeowners experienced some flooding during the fall and want to know where the water is coming from and how to stop it. The homeowners decided to call EFS for a free inspection.

Design Specialist Tom Armano inspected the basement. Tom found some cracks and some discoloration on the foundation wall. Tom believes that the water is coming through the wall and seeping into the basement. He recommended installing a full perimeter Water Guard System, a SuperSump, Ice Guard, and a Sani Dry Sedona into the basement.

Crew Lead Anthony Rivas and his team installed a full perimeter Water Guard System, a SuperSump, Ice Guard, and a Sani Dry Sedona into the basement to stop water from flooding the basement.

Leaking Basement Wall, Amesbury, MA

Harry T. in Amesbury, Massachusetts has been living in his home for the past 50 years. Since the year he moved in they have had a leak in the basement and a constant presence of water. In 2021, Harry decided it was time to find a permanent solution, as eventually the home will be sold and will need to be in tip top shape.

Design Specialist Royce Potts came to the home and inspected the basement and the outside foundation. Royce found a crack at the point where the wall meets the floor and water is seeping through. Royce proposed that Erickson install 75' of Fast Drain and 2 Super Sumps with battery backup to help to navigate the water out of the basement.

Crew Lead Branden Edwards and his team came to the home and installed the Fast Drain and 2 Super Sumps into the basement. Harry could tell right away that the combination of Fast Drain and Super Sump was going to work great for the basement. The water is now effectively diverted into the pumps and out of the basement.
